Ok, you guys are getting a little carried away... I wouldn't dare use a yellow bubble shield with the minty green helmet... it would just plain clash! So, I'd have to go clear all the way!

Post Baja mil cleanup... also doing just a little deeper cleaning cause it's time to break down the front end... much easier to handle parts clean than with Baja dirt, grease and oil covering everything! The shell is off so I can fit the new one... but it's not going into fitment till the front is done...

Now if I can just get this darn house project done I can really get started on the real important project!

Hey Tom, meant to ask, what's with the new shell??

The new shell has fold-out wings and rockets boosters, so it really will be "The Minty Green Flying Machine".

Experimenting... I'm going to put a forced air tranny cooler up under the rear cage and I'm thinking about cutting an exhaust hole in the top. Not 100% on design or even if I'm going to do any cutting... not sure I need it. But, I'm going with a cutout front (where the front window would normally be... I'm going to cut it all out and leave it open. It has no windows on the side, so if I do decide to open the sides up, I can cut it out to my own perameters... and then use stainless hardware cloth to secure it... sort of like Bill's gray bronco. Plus, I'm not running a tailgate or rear window. So, this will be the "unsecure" mode."

It's not a "new" shell, it's well used... got it off of craigslist for $100 and the fiberglass is solid and it's made nicely. Right now, it's red! So, once it's cut out, mounted and configured the way I want it... I'll have it painted to match. You'll never know the difference!

Still interested in the current front end if you decide to give up your "spares"
Hey Steve,
Ok, not sure what I'm going to do with the old setup quite yet... but I'm gonna keep it around until the new front end is tried and tested... Not quite sure what you'd want with the old setup though... it won't fit anything other than a 80-97 ¾-ton... you gonna build one?????

The second half of your question might be answered in the long distant future... Which leads me to the 1st part of your post = I'm in no rush. I've got enough on my plate currently ;)

I've had an idea kicking around in my head for a while that I'd love to get to some day soon, but I've got a bunch of other stuff to get running 1st. Having beams to work with would just save me some time on my next project, so if I can snag yours, with how nicely you did them, I'd be way ahead when the time came.

My question is dana 50 or 44 TTB. Love your truck! Looking to do a truck and 2 chasis f250 4wd or f150 4wd. Gonna go with older cab, love the older style trucks. Why dana 50 frt end. I know the dana 50 ring and pinion is a little stronger and can possibly take a little more shock load? Looking to do a dana 50 with extending arms for little wider stance. looking at 35" or 37" tires. Gathering up parts and will be building. Finishing up another project currently. thanks for any input. lost in wyoming and loving it!

That blue Ford is so cool. One thing to remember -- a 78 here in AZ has a much different emissions requirement than the 79!
