I am already looking at color for the outside paint. Really jumping the gun haha. I am pretty set now on a SZ paint code. Blue flame metallic.





I love this one but it looks a little different than the other ones. Is it because of the aluminum body? Or different primer?

Also, does anyone know the paint code for the trim? Like a dark charcoal metallic.

Got the rear springs and axle in.

I'm realizing that they changed the radiator in like 85. Not sure this core support is going to work with the newer radiator. Might have to grab an 86 core support from the pick a part.

That's unusual, as mine is date stamped 1982 manufacture, but has provision for both types of radiator. All I'd need is the rubber insulators and the top retainer plates to match.

Maybe I'm missing something?

It appears you are missing these saddles: The folded tabs for the older set up on yours, mine has welded on versions. Strange.

Yep, think I'm gonna have to just take the saddles off and weld them onto my 82 core.


Scored some hood swag at the local pick a part.

Donor bronco is not giving up the goods easily. It's a bit intimidating with all the wires and hoses everywhere.

Any suggestions on where to attach the engine crane to? I see one attachment hoop on the driver side but nothing on the other side. I want to pull the whole thing all at once. Engine/trans/xfer case.

Can't help with where the pickup points are on these things but there "should" be 2 of course. Maybe the pass ones is just buried in the back?

you have a leveling bar & a big/good engine hoist? You're gonna need both!

Oh and double and triple check for things like grounds, downshift cable speedo cable, etc. that I always seem to forget about until I'm tugging on the engine & it just won't come out for some reason...

Might be a good time to lose the hood & fenders, hook the engine hoist up, loosen the motor mounts & cut the frame off at the front of the cab. Much less for the trans & t-case to hang up on at that point as you pull it out.

Oh yeah, no problem haha. I do plan on taking off the hood and fenders. I don't have a leveling bar. Maybe I will run down and grab one. I have a 2 ton hoist that should do the trick.

Hoist should be fine. Leveling bar just makes your life much easier & will save time in the long run.

I'm serious about cutting the front end off. Plasma, port-a-band or heck, even a sawzall. Will make your life easier! As you know I've done thing a time or 3.

Well I'm hoping someone will want to come and grab the frame and body at some point.

Another been there, done that. All 3 of mine ended up in pieces going to the scrap man. Same as a few 70's trucks frames & cab which made me feel MUCH more guilty! But hey, I tried to sell them 1st then give them away and got nada.

Amazing what a little time in the blasting cabinet will do.

A little inspiration.

Putting together a coil bucket with extended shocks. Now I just need to find out what length shocks will work with a 4" cut/turn. I am leaning towards some raptor rear shocks revolved for the front. I think the IBP will be a good thing to have on the front too.

The rear spring are the factory bronco 6 lead spring re-arched for 3" lift. I think they are going to be really stiff for the rear of this thing. Wood bed floor and fiberglass fenders on the bed are going to add like no weight to the rear. The factory springs were like 3 leaves and an axle wrap or overload spring thing.

Been working on this coil bucket. A blasting cabinet is one of the best tools when you are building an old truck. I wonder how long of a shock I would need to run off of it. What's a normal travel number for a 4" c/t lift?
