Thinking about the exhaust thru the body; thinking of some 16ga. stainless for the teardrop. Thoughts??

Also got the holes cut for to install the factory-esque dust light housings.....

Bed cuttingpaloozaa continues.

Fuel access panel cut and panel cut out of some spare bed floor. It's gonna make pump swaps out a 20 minute non-bench pressing affair. I'm swapping to a mustang style Walbro GSS340 fuel pump as well :-)

This tentatively looks like how I'm going to fill the truck. Gonna test it at the gas station via some electrical tape marks on my Excursion to see it it makes enough sense. I wanna be able to have no bedsides or taillights and be fully functional is the reason for this. I also want to be able to lock the gas tank by adding one of the locking billet fuel doors.

Looks like the 64 conversion hangers aren't exactly a bolt on deal like I had thought. The FSB and Fseries frames are vastly different.

So I'm st a crossroads with the rear setup. Plan A: stick with the F53 springs or Plan B: modify the Richer front spring hangers to work on the F150 frame.

One thing that might make my shock mounts much easier is to mount the shocks off the leaf spring unbolt plates kinda offset like in the pic- probably 5/8" material would work well. I'm taking opinions :-)

Why not run tabs off the axle for the shock if you are that far over from the spring plate?

And as for the F-150 vs. bronco differences - I had always assumed the hangers were the same. Maybe the hangers are, but location on the frame is different?? Not sure how that would be either though as the F-150's & broncos run the same springs. Have you talked to Geoff Falzone about this? Are his F-150 vs. bronco hangers different??

I was just thinking offset on the spring plates mean I don't have to mess with repainting the axle housing, or cut off mounts in the future.... I know I know dumb!

Yea that's what I thought. You buy a FSB leaf spring or a Fseries spring they are the same p/n. So in my minds eye if the hangers were designed properly in the first place for the FSB one would assume that the front spring eye position wouldn't change on the F150. The bottom shape of the frame is completely different so the lower portion of the gussestted mount is way different. Mike at RR said the front hanger needed a different location for the f150 but I still am not sure why. I haven't spoken to Geoff but I will hopefully today.

Something else is my shackle- the drop kit I have is a 9" shackle - I'm not really sure the reason to run that long of a shackle or what the much longer shackle achieves? A flatter spring at full compression possibly?

I do like bolt on stuff as much as possible so the spring plate shock mount makes sense to me. Just hard to tell how far over it actually is in the pic & if it's worth it. 5/8" material would be fine I'm sure, but I like overkill so I'd probably weld a vertical rib from the shock tabs toward the middle of the spring plate if I were building them. That & bore/countersink the holes for the U bolt nuts & washers slightly.

You post above makes more sense as to what the issue is on the front spring hanger - sounds like it's the guess going back towards the bottom of the frame. I don't think Geoff's mounts have that, so that may be why the F-150 & bronco ones are the same from him (last I had heard they used the same mounts). I definitely don't think the front spring eye would move between the F-150 & bronco but it may I guess.

As for the 9" shackle - that is my though = give that big arsed spring room to flatten out.

Just run some stock Explorer spring plates, problem solved, lol!

Well the bolt on spring plate would be about 3" on center off the edge of the plate. But yes the exploder is sorta like that! Btw Steve why the countersunk bolts??

No "real" reason to counter sink the bolts. Just cool points really. If I were running a plat that thick I'd probably pocket it a bit on a mill & countersink the bolts

Geoff at Giant confirmed the F150 and FSB brackets are different bolt pattern/shape.

Got some work done on my bed. Got it Linexed, the bedcage bolted in, the tire rack 95% bolted in, and the bedbox all bolted in - the rectangles are big "washers" to make sure the box never pulls out. Here's how I'm planning on fueling the truck. The one thing I did after the fact and was kinda terrified about was if the fuel pump access panel cleared 100% and it does.. crisis averted lol!!!
