Could you have made those mounts lower, incase you wanted to run a cover?

With more lean to the shock or a shorter shock you could hide them under a tonneau cover if that is your thought Tony

Running the dual spares and no tailgate I'm not ever really wanting to run a cover. Sure a shorter 16" shock or more lean would surely give you a trade off. For me I really wanted to run a bedbox and that basically meant a fairly vertical shock. All this stems from a wider stance which I'd never ever -- ever do again!

So I've been batting this back and forth a bit and I'm at nut cutting time -literally! I need some consensus on how to mount my taillights??? As I see it there's 3 options here:
1. Bolt them on like I have them here and put the universal oval leds in there.
2.cut out the fiberglass like the FSB guys do exposing the factory lights - I have a set of Tony's BajaHID led taillights already.
3. Put the oval lights into the area below the bed like this TT has them.
4. Use an LED chase light like this one.

I'd check the local regulations to see if there is anything funky in the law, but for most places they just need to be readily visible. As long as your bumper won't obscure them there, they should be good.

As for which tail light route to go - that's all personal preference. Everyone has their own flavor... I personally like things that look like a modified stock, or as close to the factory doing something as possible. I'd therefore vote for the stock tail lights, set up like the bronco. I'm personally not a huge fan of the LED lights like a trophy truck look, but hey, it's not my truck.

I'd guess the LEDs aren't legal for a couple reasons. 1) They probably don't have reflectors in them, and 2) in that location they wouldn't be visible from the side. Style-wise though, I also prefer the stock lights.

Another option- the clears could be red, the center is a backup light.

See I have 2 beds-- one bed has been modified for bedsides and the second stock. If I use the modified bed I can not use stock lenses because there's no way to mount them into the bedsides due to no molded in places for the stock lights to recess into. If I want to use stock lights I must then use my second bed (which I can sell due to the condition) and must mount the bedsides like the FSB crowd leaving the rear housing intact.

you can make an aluminum tab that bolts to the fiberglass & the tail light screws in to. As it is the "tabs" that are moulded into the fiberglass to mount the tail lights to suck 90% of the time, so pretend that happened & figure out how you'd mount them.
