I like to take 1/4" aluminum that's tapped to act like a big rigid "washer" of sorts. I epoxied the aluminum to the back of the dash so that it just adds to the stability- to me a simple washer just makes pull thru way to easy.

Good work Matt, I'm with you on the washer's on the Bronco/ F150 dash. They fall apart so easy as it is when it comes to off road conditions over time, a plate is what I would do also. On my 1972 Bronco Dash, I am looking forward to using more aluminum and getting some time to play with my Tig welder. I am putting the GPS under the stock style 72 Dash, to keep it looking Old School as possible, maybe some way to hide it in the center console when not needed.

@24 hours - I guess I could - I'd like to check it against my bronco and another random F1 or Bronco for proper fit

First version of the console shifter knob with integrated OD button. The factory style button was used because they are readily available and they look like a factory piece. Once the knob is sanded, blasted and powdercoated I think it brings the kit almost whole. This I believe is the first of its kind. Version 2.0 is in the works to fine turn the design further to my liking Trying to bring the winter's shifter into the FSB/OBS world in the best and easiest way possible as a kit.

Have you fished the wires down the hole yet to test everything out?

Hey Matt
I know this is a old thread, but I am stuck at home with a bad back and like looking through people's builds for ideas. Great work.

I am thinking of replacing the 32 Gallon gas tank in my Bronco and put in the 38 gallon like yours.
I have not measured it yet, but I read the rear cross member gets in the way.

Do you know if the 38 will fit in the Bronco?

I am not apposed to moving the cross member back. I was also looking at 40 gallon f350 tanks. If I have to move the cross member anyway, it might be worth putting in the bigger tank. I will not be racing the Bronco, so I don't want to deal with a fuel cell and the whole foam thing

I'm not sure to be 100% honest- I would almost say this. If I were to build a custom tank I would 100% say that I would attempt to use a factory sender assembly. You don't have to be around racing long to see many races foiled by fuel issues. Let's face it- aeromotive is I think the name in HP pumps and inmo they are built for drag racing not an enduro sport- I'd say off-road racing and off-road hobbiests are endurance activities. So I'd look at any oem that had a steel tank in the size and then if it's a metal tank. One technique could be to take a factory tank cut the mounting flange out and adapt that to a bigger custom tank. One of the projects I want to tackle in my new shop is a custom tank with stock type sender/pump. Izzyfab on IG does a version of this and it's a killer job.

For anyone reading I'm building a 95x50 shop and a complete remodel in my house - I still have Marilyn and she's resting on the side of my house til I get this project closer to being completed.

I have a Holley retrofit in tank fuel pump. I have never liked the frame rail pumps people run. Seems people have them overheat and go out.

I like the simplicity of the Holley and if the pump itself goes out, replacing it is easier that the stock pump. I am definitely going to carry a backup in my pit box.

The other thing I saw was someone put two of those pumps in the tank on that arm going down and wired it in to a manual switch. I even though a fuel pressure switch would be an idea if you loose fuel pressure, it would activate the backup fuel pump relay. Then add a warning indicator on the dash that shows which pump is running.

I have the Holley Terminator X MPFI system, but I have not run it yet. I went with a Edlebrock Super Victor 1450 intake and Edlebrock 1000cfm throttle body. Since I have a 1972 Bronco, the 9.5" deck hight is an issue hitting the hood. I am going to run a low profile plenum to run 4" tube to a cold air intake canister air filter.

I will most likely make my own filter housing out of aluminum. Then I get to play with my Tig welder doing aluminum. ImageImage

That pump mounting system looks nice- still not sure my thoughts on it vs a bitchin type that use the stock senders. I will say if you go that direction of course try a resp Bosch or Walnro pump. As far as the fuel injection- I bought an old ass Terminator and couldn't get it to work for anything. My opinion is this - sell it and buy the latest version at the time you are about to need it. I hated the Holley stuff and then like 2-ish years later Andy Jones put a Sniper on his built engine and it runs great. The difference is I honestly think it's just the programming and the quality improves model over model-it's prob heavily on the programming. Once the shop is done I hope to do a big balls linked stretched bronco but I still want the thing to have those key Autozone parts.
