Lol reverse is for losers. Well them and when you want to get the thing off the trailer.... I also picked up a type 2 transaxle so the parts are working their way to a full tear down in the summer.

That's what I thought until Carly and I had to push it up the ramps onto the trailer. It took a lot more than I figured to get it on then a whole lot more to stop it from rolling off and hitting the bronco lol.

All that proves is off is the easy part so no reverse needed. Just keeping it in good running order so you have power to go forward is the lesson there

In the quest for keeping the carbs from loading up I have learned a few tricks. I used brake line and oblonged them then sealed around the tubing. If this doesn't work I'll go ahead and "dry" sump them.

I would be more worried about the "gas" (I use that term loosely) that you are putting in them. Kalifornia gas will turn to jelly in a Webber in a few days. I have pulled mine apart to clean the jelly out more times than I care to think about.

It will sit no problem for a couple of weeks with AZ gas. Pemex will go for months without issue.

It has gotten so bad I priced out a FI kit from CB. Hopefully it sells before it comes to that. Then the new owner can deal with it.

Funny this thing has sat for a year with old gas and have found no fuel residue of jelly. I agree though that the fuel here blows. This is more for when I hit rough terrain it doesn't flood out on me. The carbs are also getting rebuilt this week.

Well no major stuff but a lot of little stuff. First, k&n filters suck in silt. One weekend and they were clogged. Since they are good and they were on I'm going to give some foam pre filters a shot. Also I installed a fan guard so nothing can fly in the fan like my wife's scarf or a rock. Rebuilt the carbs and boy were the prints shot! Adjusted the valves (thank you Josh for the refresher) changed out the leaky CV boots and picked up a welded fan with new hardware. After seeing what my uncles fan did (grenaded and tore through the tin) I decided it was a bit of added security. Hopefully install the shifter and a bit of wiring and I may be able to meet my parents on Sunday out at el mirage for another shake down run.

Another slight hiccop I found. The linkage ball on each side were not tight in the cup of the linkage. After some reading I found that there are small bushings that are supposed to be inside. Well after finding they don't sell them I decided to try out something of my own. I picked up a set of nylon bushings and am cutting and sanding I came up with this.

If those don't work out let me know I can machine you a set out of aluminum, bronze, nylon or delrin, your choice. Just bring the linkage so I can measure up the ID/OD when you grab your beam.

Wierd, My glass car has the throttle return spring hooked to the collector also.........

Thank you Rob! It didn't work but some heat shrink worked perfect. Hahah yeah Brian after having stuck throttle issues I'll take the funky looking spring over the throttle sticking. Great news! After adjusting the valves redoing the carbs and new distributor cap n rotor it fires right up and doesn't miss a lick.

Well I got into mounting the shifter and found the old cutting brakes are in the way. Luckily I bought a set of lay down style on a hunch and got lucky. This is the mount for the cutting brakes. The cut tube will be stitch welded to the tube behind the seats.

After loosing relays I did some research. These relays are 12v 100 amp continuous relays. I'll run one for the electrical and one more for the generator. When the kill switch is hit it'll energize both at the same time. By the way these are used a lot in electric golf carts.
