Maybe soon. The two-tone Momo screams attention whore. The link wheel is pure, unadulterated STYLE!yikes wrote:No chain wheel?

Re: The Next Big Thing....
I saw an exploder today, was trying to snap a pic for you. Pretty sickey it was on 37's with 3/4 ton solid axel front n rear. Not into rock crawlers but an exploder on 37's was definately cool. Surprisingly low ride height as well.

So I've never been one to spend money on bling and such... steering wheels included. I never could see why someone would spend so much money on a Momo or similar steering wheel (enter my swapmeet wheel). Now that I have one, I have to admit, despite the two-tone color scheme, I dig it! It's hard to describe via text alone, but the contours of this wheel are very well placed for multiple hand positions... 10 & 2, 9 & 3, one on top... very nicely done. Bravo, Momo. Bravo.

Re: The Next Big Thing....
I'm on the hunt for a 12v fridge... gotta wait to find it at the right price or it just isn't going to happen. In the meantime, I ran a heavy gauge power circuit to the cargo area. I don't want to run it through a cigar lighter, so once I get the fridge I'll build a connector to attach to this one at the back of the car and make a short cord to plug into the fridge.
Weatherpack fuse holders under the hood. The plan was to build a small bracket to hold these but I have a potential trip coming up next weekend so tidiness will have to wait.

that's just Steve in his other weekend ride! They caught that pic between hair cuts so it got a bit long and scraggly...

Re: The Next Big Thing....
Keep your eyes off my dingle balls!
Minor update. I got this net idea from a guy on Expedition Portal. The addition of the antenna holder was my genius (ha!) idea... I needed a place to store it without having it trampled or bent. I did the same on the other side in case I want to carry a spare or one trimmed for a different frequency.
If I end up liking and using the net I'll make a bigger one that is more taut to increase its capacity.

Re: The Next Big Thing....
Another option is to make the shelf out of something like this...
Or I was thinking out of that wire shelving stuff you can cut to length.... but I think the net would be better when loading to the ceiling. The wire shelving might get in the way....

That up high storage is a pretty cool idea. Makes use of otherwise un-used space.

That's the goal. Space is at a premium and I'm trying to squeeze every bit of it out of this car. Nothing heavy will go up there but it might be handy for storing jackets, hats and that kind of thing.

Re: The Next Big Thing....
I use to keep a spare antenna inside the rear side panel. I drilled a small hole inside the rear pocket and put the whip inside the panel and removed the coil. I put a zip tie on the whip so it would stay in place. The coil was in a plastic tube in the parts box.

Re: The Next Big Thing....
That's what I wanted to do but the panels on Explorers aren't long enough for that. I thought about making a hole in the headliner for it but this works....Wrightracing.net wrote:I use to keep a spare antenna inside the rear side panel. I got myself a good water jug... still gotta get the mounting brackets from Ollie.

Re: The Next Big Thing....
You can never have too many 12v outlets.... I added a high-amp outlet in the front of the center console a while back and finished up a couple more. One between the rear seats and another in the cargo area to run my latest acquisition. I made both with Weatherpack connectors so I could use them for other things without fear of them coming apart.
Between the rear seats:
Cargo area:
This will do for now but I plan to make a short cord to go from this to my new accessory.

A HUGE thanks to Greg (Broncodawg) for the hook up on the fridge. This thing rocks!
