My wheel ADD continues. I've been debating getting rid of the Walkers. Probably overkill for my purposes, and while they look cool, they are friggin heavy. One of my 325/70R17 (35x13.5x17) Terra Grapplers mounted on the Walker weights 115.6 lbs. Add to it the added maintenance required with the beadlocks, and I've been debating going back to a non beadlock wheel.

I'm debating going back to a classic Alcoa look alike wheel, in a 17"x8" so I can retain my existing tires. For comparison, this combo weighs 99 lbs. Almost a full 16 pounds lighter.

Here's some shots of the rig with an alcoa look alike mounted on the front for comparison sake.

Old school for the win. Really digging the clean/simple look of the alcoa look alines.

A couple mods/upgrades in the works.

First is going to be the trans. I've got a new Mag Hytec trans pan with temp sender, as well as a new valve body from Broader Performance. Also a Hayden trans cooler. The plan is to have the new valve body installed, as well as the trans pan, and also the extra trans cooler plumbed in. Once all that's done, will hook up the trans temp gauge on my A pillar.

Image

Second is the fuel tanks. The plan there is to delete the front gas tank, and replace the rear gas tank with this 38 gallon unit. 38 gallons of gas guzzling glory!

Took a quick day trip out to Oco today, truck did great. Got in 80 dirt miles without issue. Here's all the pics I managed to snap.

Heading out bright and early

At camp once we got there

Had one "wish I had 4x4 moment". Nothing a quick yank with the tow strap couldn't fix.

Giggety giggety.

Pretty psyched on how beefy Richer made these fender supports. Hoping they'll help stiffen up that core support a lil bit.

Looks like they started on the rear bumper as well. There's gonna be a horizontal piece with a plate on it to make a good surface to step on as well. There will be a hidden receiver hitch behind the flip up license plate so I can attach a D ring for recovery purposes. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Ran by Richer this morning to drop off some parts, and snapped a few pics. Can't say enough good things on how this is turning out!

Fender mounts all welded up.

Glad the front bumper is coming off as well. Pretty sure I'd shred a tire if I hit full bump with the wheel turned even a little bit.

Image

Passenger fender mostly mounted.

So psyched with how this bumper is turning out!

And then there's this. All I can say is wow. Way nicer than I ever could have anticipated. So excited to see it all back together!

Thanks Ben!

Rear bumper is done for now, as well as the fenders. Next step is to swap in the 38 gallon rear tank, do the poly body mounts (and one other cool little detail to be shown later), and then take it back to Richer so that he can do the front bumper, as well as add tubes/skid to the rear bumper to protect the rear tank.

I barely had any time to snap these pics between picking it up and dropping it off at the 'Fab, but I am super stoked on how the rear bumper came out! Should look great once it's all powdercoated.

Just got back from Autofab...those guys don't mess around! Body mounts are done, as well as the new body mount outriggers that will allow for the tie in of a bushing mounted cage later ;-)

Image

Image

Also managed to snap some pics of the new inner fenders. I still cant believe how nice these came out. Last thing to do now is trim the corner of that heater box and I should be pretty good on tire clearance.

Passenger side:

And a shot of the cool flip down license plate on the rear bumper. Just gotta JB weld some strong little magnets on there before it goes off to powdercoat.

So I guess my sleeper status is more or less revoked now.

Image

Got the 38 gallon rear tank in, and Jonny re-did the bumper supports. We opted not to run tubes below the tank since they'd be scrapers for sure.

Basically done. All that's left to do now is mount my amber cube lights, the 2 tow hooks, and then trim the corner of the heater box. Truck should be ready for pick up Monday afternoon.

Picked the truck up from Richer today, can't say enough good things about their work. So happy with the end result.

Already started the tear down process so I can get the bumpers, and fender mounts off to powder coat. Hoping to get everything off the truck and ready for coating by tomorrow night.

Got everything put back together...only thing left to do is finish up some details on the skid plate, and bolt it on. Snagged a camper shell from CL for $100. Super stoked on being able to lock up surfboards back there, not to mention use it as sleeping quarters!

Image

Image

Had the fender off for a little trimming, so I snapped a pic of the inner fenders.

Finally got the skid plate all sorted out/installed, along with the LED bar. Still going back and forth on what I'm gonna do for my amber fog lights. Got a couple ideas that I'm looking into.
