A pair of 74's...

Hey Steve, insert motivational speech here.... Here's my unsolicited advise... Switch it to AN now. We don't make progress fast enough to justify not making the switch lol. Do it now while it's easy to do.

And remember, it could always be worse, you could be one of those dudes not into trucks... not sure what they spend their money on or get pissed off about? Golf maybe?

Thanks for the motivational speech Erik. It worked. Want to see me pissed off for real? Lets talk about golf... Hate that crap - lol.

Tomorrow is another day. Hopefully one with a little more progress & a little less cursing!

I am going to leave the line for now though. If it leaks that probably means & stripped the threads, at which point that means I need a new lift pump as they don't sell any rebuild kits or parts for these things. Just means another $100 or so in the bin. Plus the $35-50 for the AN setup.

It's been a few weeks again and not much new here to report at all. Been busy, traveling and also lazy on the couch again so not much more done than a parts order or 2.

I got a wild hair & started reading up on the "big line" kits for fuel delivery from filter to injection pump. Long story short I've got the parts for mine here. I also picked up the fittings and hose to dump that hard line off the lift pump that annoyed me last time I messed with the truck. Erik's right - we're too old & work too slow to no just do what is easier and better the 1st time around. I'm now being lazy about getting back out & installing some of this stuff though. House/yard work that needs attention isn't helping my timeline there again though.

Time for another recap of the last few weeks "work". In typical fashion this is crawling along, but hey, even tiny progress is better than none...

5-25-17 I did a test fit on the finished fuel filter mount so as to cut the fuel hose & get the push lock fittings on. Here's how the feed line looks coming to the lift pump now. Cleaner setup than I had before so I am happy.
Image

6-1-17 I got my filter mount installed permanently (with the shorter fuel filter on for now) and started looking at cleaning up the plumbing runs
Image

Next I finally got around to another small thing I had been lazy about for a while. Any guesses here? Winner gets an internet high five!
Image

6-2-17 I had noticed my nice aluminum tank was oxidizing a bit sitting out in the elements a mile or 2 from the beach so I cleaned it up a bit & threw some paint at it. Flat black will make it a little more stealth...
Image

Later that night I finally got the stainless tabs on the headlights & got those bolted up. I had mistakenly gotten the wrong size bolts when i had finally gone to the hardware store so I had to go back & get the right stuff to do this
Image

6-7-17 (last night) I busted out the old bead roller & put some beads in the intake tube finally. I had been lazy about getting to this as well. Oh and when I say old on the bead roller I mean it. This thing is 40 years older than I am (like most of my favorite tools) and still going strong of course!

Wow it's been a LOOONG time since I posted here. As usual. Even though I had been picking away at this thing since my last post I am finally having to do what I have been avoiding for the last 2-3 years & post something I never wanted to (and still don't really WANT to)... This thing is officially for sale. Now what I ever wanted to type, but yeah. Life happens.

PM, call or text me for info if anyone is seriously interested. 9four9 378 355three

Yup. Again, not something I ever planned or even really want to do. I'm done fighting with my wife about it though and my free time to work on it is less and less. So...

$15k is asking price. Sent a bunch of pics & info to Willie & Hollander so far. As soon as I can make the time to get the pics off my phone & downsized to work here I'll get them up. Along with a list of the bigger ticket parts. It'll also be going on RDC, DR and a couple 73-79 facebook groups etc. As well as in my build thread on FTE & Cummins forum. I just started it here 1st to give anyone who may be interested a head start as I'd love to see it stay in a group I know so I can keep tabs on it. + I'm gonna be out of town off and on for 2 weeks or more so can't fully deal with it currently.

Hollander asked if I was open to any trades. Only thing I MAY be able to convince my wife on is a 4wd, diesel Excursion, and even that is a loooong shot. But if anyone has one we can at least talk.

Post pics & info on the '79 Chris. While I'd love to pick up something I could hop in & at least drive down even a fire road, especially something as cool as another 70's truck it's not going to happen. If I had time to work on or enjoy anything this crew wouldn't be for sale.
