My first intent was a 65 Double Cab for cruising, but the versatility of the camper (westy) seemed to be a better fits for the small ones.

Steve,
I don't have a place yet. I've called Olympic PC (santa ana) and Coast PC (san Clemente). The costs I've run into is $45-$50/wheel and $75-$80/bumper.
I know alot of people have opinions about Olympic (cost or whatever) but they are probably one of the best. When I used to work for TSW Wheels, they did all our powdercoating.

I just tried looking the place up online & didn't see them. I'll do a drive by on the way to the shop tomorrow & check it out.

Thanks Steve. I also need multiple quarter size surface rust spots removed and the driverside front window (rust at the corner) needs to be repaired for rust. If anyone knows or could help with these repairs let me know.

There is a good body guy behind my uncles shop (Costa Mesa) that does work for cheap. I can check & see how busy he is if you like. He's usually busy but if it's a couple small spots that he could do at separate times between his major projects I'd think he'd be all over it. If you're interested let me know & I can get the info to you. If you want to see some of his work you can come look at my alfa or many of the other cars around my uncle's shop.

Would he be able to provide a rough estimate based off photos?

They guy that did my glass fenders works right up from you (Grand/Edinger). He does good work and is affordable. He does it as a side job but works as paint/body guy for a living.

Way to go, Griffin! A lot of times, repairs aren't so bad once you convince yourself to actually start.

I picked up this magazine at a airport not too long ago and it had a great article on these little buses:

We sometimes see some pretty remote places in Baja and I read this magazine and I think wow we have nothing on these guys, lol.

Rust has been removed and treated with Por15 Metal prep and isolated areas treated with zero rust paint. Rust holes have been welded, just need to do the body filler to smooth things out and then primer.

Brakes are next.

Update:
New rotors, pads, calipers, shoes, brake hardware, and all new rubber brake hoses. Body work finished and new windshield seal. Also installed new Hankook tires. Just waiting to install my new front seats from Sewfine Interior and new vinyl door panels from TMI.

Went to San Elijo over the past weekend.
