My first intent was a 65 Double Cab for cruising, but the versatility of the camper (westy) seemed to be a better fits for the small ones.

Steve,
I don't have a place yet. I've called Olympic PC (santa ana) and Coast PC (san Clemente). The costs I've run into is $45-$50/wheel and $75-$80/bumper.
I've had a few things done at Olympic, bike frame etc., and they do good work for a very reasonable price.

Nice, my youth group at church had a 68 Vw van when I was a kid. It was beefed up with a 1835cc motor and off road tires for playing down in Mexico off road.
