Been way to busy with the shop to do anything. Just hoarding parts.ChaseTruck754 wrote:Just posted in another thread joking about all your different projects & it made me think of this one. Any updates?

Got some wheels and tires for the old Ranger at the swap meet. Protruck Alcoas and General SC tires in a 35x12.50x17. I scrapped my idea of using steel Dodge wheels.

What is the offset like on those wheels Philo? Looks pretty big from the pics but I can't really tell.

It's not bad... about 1/2 inch more than a Method. Might work out well as I'd like to reuse the rear from the Bronco on this project and late model rears are a little wider.ChaseTruck754 wrote:What is the offset like on those wheels Philo? Looks pretty big from the pics but I can't really tell.

Backspacing is 5.4" and overall width is 10". Rim is a 17x9, and offset is about a +12. I should mention I now plan on painting the truck metallic Blue and have the wheels powdercoated metal flake gold.
Charlie Foreman radius arms mounts I scored for $35. I can even get the plate cut for that.
I also found a 5.3 in a LKQ yard in Vegas I may order tomorrow. Free shipping to business! Yay!

Nice all the way around! Color scheme sounds cool and those rad arm brackets were a score.
Can't wait to see progress on this.

Philo, can you do me a favor and measure the distance between the front face of the radius arm bushing hole and the rear face?

I measured the CF mounts, not the factory ones. Are the factory mounts 1.250 thick at the bushing?SteveG wrote:Hmm. You were supposed to say 31.75mm.

No, the Superlift brackets I have are 1.25". I'm massaging them to correct a wheelbase discrepancy. 1" sounds right judging by the new bushings I have.

Are you using the early bushings? These are designed to use the older stuff that supposedly lasts longer.SteveG wrote:No, the Superlift brackets I have are 1.25". I'm massaging them to correct a wheelbase discrepancy. 1" sounds right judging by the new bushings I have.

I'm converting to the old-style bushings. I don't think the Superlift brackets are correct for either. They might have used a custom bushing.

sweet! Don't know much at all about those motors other than I hear they are good and run forever. I assume it's an inline 4?

3.0L inline 5. Mechanical injection, turbo charged, but the factory injection pump can't support more then about 175 hp.
