Re: The F-Bomb
It's been way longer than 5 years my friend. You were in Costa Mesa and your diesel motor was still in the dodge it came in. That has to be longer than 5. Those bedsides were one of the first parts I bought when I started.

yeah, I thought about it more after I posted that. I was in the shop for 4 years so it has to be at least 6 years. Might be closer to 7-8. Damn time flies!

damn no edit!
Also just realized those tail light housings are metal. All mine are plastic. Are those out of a econoline or something? Or stock off the truck?

Re: The F-Bomb
Yes, it's been a ridiculously long time. The truck was still together and running, I hadn't even started the tear down process yet. I was probably still thinking about a real simple cage and a coil bucket kit. See your influence? I could of had this thing in the dirt years ago!
Those are stock taillights. The FoMoCo is between the bolts. They also have a SAE part # that includes 73TK. 73 truck I would assume? Were they 73 only? This truck came of the line in early jan. of 1973, so it was an early one for sure. IDK, but they were easy to mount this way. I don't know if I would be as comfortable with a plastic housing. I need to order the repop stuff to put them in for good. I'm also going to order weatherstrip, window rubber, etc.

Re: The F-Bomb
Forgot the bedsides were that long ago! Also forgot your were talking about some basic upgrades back then too...
As for the tail lights - texted and asked another buddy before seeing this post & he & I both thought it is probably a '73 only thing (kind of light the "cups" in the inside door handles = metal in '73 but plastic all other years). His tail lights came from a '73 and are metal. The ones I had off a '73 aren't but no clue if they had been replaced.
And yes, I agree the metal looks like a way better part. I guess I now have another thing to hunt down...

Re: The F-Bomb
huh. Neither of my '74's (crew & supercab) were/are metal. Maybe it's an early '74 thing, or who knows what is original anymore after so many years. Either way I've gotta find a set now.

Here's an update. I should be able to carve out a few hours this weekend, I should be able to get some parts bolted on it.

Some updates. It was like Christmas unwrapping freshly powdered parts.
Fuel cell, skid, etc.

Re: The F-Bomb
The truck is still tucked in the garage pretty tight, so I can't get very far back, but...Dat ass.

Re: The F-Bomb
Thanks, everybody.
Yes, I have been getting some time in the garage. Truthfully though, it's going together quickly. All this stuff has been together and apart a couple of times already, so it's all sorted out.
I'm going to move to the interior and hang the doors next. Once I get my brackets coated, it will be a roller.
I did put this on today. Cooler hold down. This is important...

Re: The F-Bomb
A few more updates. I moved to the interior but I am still prepping parts for powder. This is fun stuff, too. I got Fat Mat laid down, as well as my positive air pressure system.

Re: The F-Bomb
Very nice......should be very solid and tight with al that deadener in there. The cab pressure fan you have looks like a marine bilge ventilator. Is it or if not what is it and what are the specs? Anything will help but do you think it will build enough pressure? Cool idea and very simple to change filters.
