Re: Rod's 84 BabyBajaF100
Jobs for the next 2 weeks:
Finish, sand and paint bumper.
Buy 2nd pair of driving lights and fit them all up.
Wire harnesses.
Fab rear bumper to be legal.
Full all out pressure clean to get it ready for some suspension work (rebush rear springs, fit TTB, etc.)
Start rubbing down cab for paint, repair rusty fenders (temporary until f/glass)
I have some new headlight inserts to fit, one has a bullet hole in it from a stone. I will fit them if and when my HID kit arrives. Between USPS and Australia Post, they give real meaning to the term "Snail Mail".

Re: Rod's 84 BabyBajaF100
Bumper fab continued tonight after work..... added the end braces:
a quick coat of flat black until I finish the skid plate and mounts:
Well, it sure aint YikesFab or Patriot Fabworks, but it will do the job. Hopefully I will fit the other pair of lights and wire them all up on the weekend:

Re: Rod's 84 BabyBajaF100
Went to Melb today with the F100 and a tandem axle trailer to pick up my Land Rover to sell it for parts, and was I disappointed. The trip down with an empty trailer was ok, but on the way back, that slow-ass POS 6 couldnt pull a condom off my willie On flat ground with a slight headwind, the best I got was 40 mph! I removed the windshield and truck cab roof from the LR and reprofiled it a lot, the speed went up to 50 mph. The biggest problem was, as soon as I hit any kind of incline up, it died in the ass and slowed dramatically. Tomorrow I will look at timing, yune, and the pissy small exhaust and cheap muffler on it and see if I cant improve the power a little. Otherwise, I think it is time for a V8! I have a 351C short in the garage, A re-ring, and some cylinder heaeds and in she will go by Xmas.

If you have the time to wait, there is a seller in Phillip Island (can't remember his ebay name but he is F-trucks r us in Cowes) that starts np208s at $100 every now and again. I've bought one off his shelf and it cost me $600.

I already spoke to him over the phone...... $650 for a C6 complete and $250 for a NP208 from a Bronco. I can wait. I have a rebuilder C4 at home, and a Jeep NP208 I could use with a AA conversion kit.

Prices are much higher in Australia because the stuff is way more rare there.

Re: Rod's 84 BabyBajaF100
I wouldnt say its rare, just that most people hang on to it. When they do come up for sale on ebay, the private sales are cheap. The importers think they are gold plated or unobtainium and try to rip us off. We arent that stupid here.philofab wrote:Prices are much higher in Australia because the stuff is way more rare there.

Might take you up on that, but i have full use of a plasma cam here in the metals shop next door, so i'll probably just go with that.
I need to figure out how to mount to the goofy '92 frames first!

I cut mine back just over 10 inches. Then double walled the frame horn.
I'm just here for the views. It helps me feel wanted.

Save yourself the headache and leave the stock bumper on it. No frame modifications needed!

Re: Rod's 84 BabyBajaF100
Damn! Yesterday during lunchbreak, I noticed a pool of oil under the pinion yoke in the carpark. A quick investigation revealed a loose yoke(?) and the oil coming from under the retaining nut. That night at home, I removed the driveshaft and buzzed the nut off with the rattle gun, and man is that yoke loose on the splines!!! Almost a 1/4" of radial movement in the yoke. The nut face is worn, too. Without any spares to fix it, I applied some sealer to the nut face and buzzed it up hard to tighten it up. Its ok for now, and a lot of drivetrain noise I had before after towing the trailer full of plastic barriers is gone. The rear gearbox seal is leaking badly too, but I dont have the correct socket to remove the yoke nut. Am searching for a 9" to replace the 8.8 (it has a badly worn RH axle at the brg too). I also sheared off my adapter drive trying to remove the fill plug on the 8.8
