Re: Go Fast ( presented in f250 HD)
where do you guys put limit straps on the rear end for your progressive leaf pack? basically the rear end rebounds WAY up after landing, i assume i can remedy that by strapping it. should i weld to the axle tubes and hook to frame? or just get a real long strap and go around the axle tubes and "basket" it back up to the frame, that seems way stronger and i don't have to weld to the axle tubes....

I was going to weld mine to the top of the spring plate.
I'm just here for the views. It helps me feel wanted.

The limit strap is used to keep your suspension from over-extending and damaging shocks and maybe driveshaft (due to joints binding). What you're feeling is a problem with shock valving.jimmyd wrote:basically the rear end rebounds WAY up after landing, i assume i can remedy that by strapping it.

well thats what i am afraid is happening when the rear end is hopping . i have adjustable shocks, and still can't find the right spot

Re: Go Fast ( presented in f250 HD)
so should i run bigger shocks? i am running rancho rs9000 adjustables (couldn't get anyhting else for at least 2 weeks when i purchased them, wanted bilsteins) in the stock mounts. should i just go through the bed? the front is awesome works perfect, but the back bounces way up when i "land".SteveG wrote:The limit strap is used to keep your suspension from over-extending and damaging shocks and maybe driveshaft (due to joints binding). What do you have for rear springs? An overload will cause that kick that you have happening.

All leaf packs have progressive spring rates.jimmyd wrote:A progressive leaf pack.philofab wrote:What do you have for rear springs? An overload will cause that kick that you have happening.
The reason I ask is if the rear spring rate or the compression on the shock is set to high, it will cause it to "kick" or "bounce" after a good bump or hit. Sometimes the shock needs to have some compression removed to alleviate the problem, or some spring rate would need to be removed.

Re: Go Fast ( presented in f250 HD)
local shop built them for me.
its a 10 leaf pack with really thin leaves for each. i was thinking of removing a leaf but the guy who built them pointed out that if you remove one leaf from the series its going to throw off the whole bunch.
other than turning a dial on the rancho's, i can't do anything for the valving on my shocks and i currently have it set really soft, however not much difference at the hard setting either. i don't like these shocks.
either way, i know what i need to do now.

If your springs are new they will need to be broken in. Do they have some sort of friction remover between the leaves?

Re: Go Fast ( presented in f250 HD)
If those shocks are longer than stock in the stock mounts they could be bottoming the shocks before you use much of your travel. That will make it kick up too. Figure out a way to see how much travel you are using to narrow down what to work on. Im sure it would be easy to get volunteers to flog it through some bumps while you stand by the side and watch. Okay maybe that last one isnt such a good idea!
