cs_drums wrote:So after hours of thought on the walk through design here is my take. I think the biggest issues are going to be keeping the body from tearing itself apart and getting a good seal where the shell meets the body. I think the best way to do it would be to attach the back of a bronco to your existing cab. It would be a decent amount of work however I think the end result would be ideal. you would have a complete steel to steel attachment of the front half to the back half of the truck as well as factory seal from the cab to the shell. If I were you I would wait to do anymore cage work until you have the end goal set.
That was my take on it and my advice a few pages back. Totally agree on all.

Hello, Names Walter.

Figured I'd restart this thread since I am the new owner of this truck.

Have not done much to her yet, but a I have plans to restore her to her former glory and then some. So far all I've done is vent the skid palate, update the lighting with some VisionX Evo Prime bars and put some new rubber on her.

Mods to come: Ditching the 302 and replacing with a stroked 351 (396) with a fresh transmission built to handle the extra power. Cage the cab and tie it into the bed and engine cage. Single swing steering. Possibly upgrade to 3.0 shocks.

That's the tentative list and in that order. Engine swap is already in the works, just waiting on parts to arrive.

Few pics

Have always loved this truck. Desperately tried to get my buddy to get it but he went Baja bug instead. [PERSEVERING FACE]

Sounds like a good plan you have. Is the rear 9" yet! May want to look into that with the new motor going in.

Looking forward to the continued updates

Just the trussed 8.8 at the moment. A 9" will come eventually, but it's not a top priority at the moment.
