1989 F150 Hay Hauler

Post by ЯRanch »

I’m new here and just got a new project.
1989 F150 short box 4x4
5 speed zf
5.0 Cobra Mustang Engine

Use: ranch work and sheriff posse patrol

Needs: Suspension, lights, radios, and paint.

I’ve looked over the old border patrol Broncos and see that front and rear shock towers with extended radius arms, some poly coil spring bumps and gas shocks seemed to be standard.

For lights I have some 9” spots and some rough county led light bars plus led strobes for emergency warning lights.

Radios I have Motorola MCS 100watts radios and a all modes HAM plus a mini CB.

Paint is to be decided but it’s currently dark blue and primer due to 80s paint peak.

Tires will be 10 ply
Gears will be 5:13

for what it sounds like you want to do, id go through solo or desolate with a cut&turn beam kit, their radius arms, and some bilstein 5100s or fox 2.0s, deavers out back with the same shocks, and you should be pretty happy with it

Tha is for the reply, we have some parts already from a complete BDS 6” lift kit.
The plan so far is to use the rear lift springs, remove blocks and run a longer shackle to lower it back down.
Weld in a f250 shock mount up front run limit strap.
Fab a upper shock mount bar for the rear.

Not sure about shocks there’s allot of options available.

Recently got 5:13 gear sets to install.
Did some tune up on the engine. Bbk 70mm throttle body and new cable, plugs, wires. Re did the air filter system. Used the Diesel BHAF. Did the base idle reset.
Single 3” moroso muffler dump out the side of the truck. The 302 has a big cam so it sounds Really good.
I’m sand blasting my radius arms and brackets this weekend.
