4 door grocery getter

Post by hollandermotorsports »

As some know I love my bronco and I loved my supercrew but did not need 2 prerunners. So I set out to combine the 2 a ttb 4 door truck. I sold the Supercrew at the beginning of this past week and promised my wife my dream truck. I recently welcomed my daughter into the world and I may never get the chance to build my dream truck again if I do not go after it now. So I introduce you to the new grocery getter. I am doing a LS based motor with 4l80 trans. other than that it will be typical run of the mill 1995 ford f-150 dana 44 TTB centurian conversion pickup. Ya I am that guy that is going to cut up a rare truck to make my wife happy. I have most of the parts to finish this truck as it was in the works for awhile but there are a few parts I have to track down still or lean on some friends in the industry. Thankfully my buddies over at SDG had some shocks just sitting that will work perfectly so grabbed those combo of 3.0 coil over, 4.4 bypass and 2.5 bumps for all 4 corners. Have tubeworks housing getting snout replaced and truss added currently at tubeworks, ordered full CHO frontend beams, steering the whole package including some white autofab front fenders from Cho. I have Gatlan drawing rear back half to house 80 gal Gieser cell, links and kicked frame rails. Goal is to have a roller within 2 months then I will bring home and finish at my pace. I hope you guys enjoy. Most of the parts coming off the truck are available if someone is looking for certain parts.

It is a lot of shock but that's what the tuner that will manage the way the truck works recommended. Its a 4 door with 80 gal cell its going to be pushing 6k-7k easily ready to go to baja. I have 4.5" Cho beams. There is no way to package more than a 3.0 shock with 1.5". That what we did on my bronco and it has about 1/8"- 3/16" clearance at its tight points through full motion.

Happy Saturday All. Made a little more progress this week. Getting ready to chop the frame while we wait for laser to cut and form parts. Gatlan killed it on the rear frame section and links. we shift shocks back to keep out of the cab with the shortened wheelbase. They are a 55" link. I had him incorporate link mounts into fabbed frame rails as well that should save a great deal of time and look clean. With it being a Centurian they have a nice section of frame from the addition of crew cab section so it gives up a nice clean slate to tie into that is why the long section before it kicks up for the rear. This is designed to use the Gieser 80 gal cell that you can pretty readily find used when the TT guys upgraded to 100+gal cells. I am cheap so a new $6k 80 gal cell will not work for me.

So is that a stock frame or did Centurion stretch it?

To the best of my knowledge Centurian stretched from a single cab frame. It required a body lift to clear rear kick in frame and rear of cab.

So all the parts have started rolling in from Laser. Picked up these parts Friday afternoon and spent 10 hours over the weekend and now it is almost ready for the cab to go back on. As you see link mounts are set and everything. This has made it very nice.

Got a little adventurous yesterday and went to the shop after work to get bottom side of chassis welded and install cab. I love how this truck is coming together. I am contemplating trying to run a tailgate outside of the fuel cell to cap it off. We took 12" out of the wheelbase.

What was wheelbase? I think short bed crews were 150" or 155" but I've forgotten all that crap I used to know.

What are you doing for bedsides with the shorter wheelbase? Just trimming/shortening something someone already offers?

This thing seems to be moving along quickly - I like it. Not much room for groceries in that bad, but hey, you can cruise the parking lot in style at least.

If I recall correctly it started life as 152" we should be around 138"-140" ready to go. I ordered Autofab bed sides and have not totally decided route I will go whether I hack it together or end up with heavily modified but super clean made to fit bed sides. Knowing me I will have more in the bedsides than the back half because I want them to look proper.

With that said the bedsides are the longest lead part on the whole truck this far. Autofab was backed up 3 months when I bought them. I ordered before I even bought the truck hopefully I see them in the next month or so.

Soo much radness. Should have just put a bronco top and bedsides on it to cap off the back. Lol

The tailgate would be sweet

Spent the afternoon on the truck yesterday. Cage is moving forward. Opted to go 2" 4130 vs 1.75". We could not get it as tight as usual but should be tight enough. So excited to have this truck moving forward. Trailing arms should be finished today.

We opted to radius the brow bar and tuck it. Nobody likes to look between roof and brow bar and see out the window. We will also be rolling the roof bars to have them follow roof.
