Re: "Oldbaja"
Mark's truck that he is rebuilding is the pre-runner to the original race truck. The whereabouts of the race truck is unknown. The race truck had 4 Rough Country BMK V shocks on each corner. Mark has put a ton of hours and effort into this rebuild. All his work is evident in the truck. I rode in that pre-runner truck for hours on end as I also co-rode with Ivan in the race truck in the 1979 Baja 1000 as an 18 year old young man. Almost the greatest 36 hours of my life.

Re: "Oldbaja"
Phase III has officially kicked off. The 74 Shortbed frame I picked up in Norcal. It is at "The Fab" for light mods to the frame and steering box mount area. Old factory welds are ground out and rewelded. Then the frame will get sandblasted and powder coated. This will be the platform to mount the 74 cab in which "The Fab" will build the cage for the truck. Very similar to the spare parts truck on "The Fab" website. This way I can keep Oldbaja up and running.

Phase 3 looks to be pretty serious! Powder coated frame plus bolt-on goodness... I love it!

Jealousy - yes. Pressure??? Not really.
While I would LOVE to get the supercab build going I just have way too much on my plate to deal with 1st so I'll keep dealing with that & plunking away at the crew as I can.

Re: "Oldbaja"
I was at the fab today and the front frame horn was removed (bent pretty badly) and a new one welded on... I helped Darin align it and I gotta tell you, it came out very nice! Although the frame needs a bit of work, it's actually in pretty good shape, even considering how old the darn thing is!

No worries - I know you were. I'm still finding an hour or 2 here or there to plug away at things If I didn't I'd go insane!BajaF250 wrote:Yes you do have a lot on your plate... I was just poking at you...ChaseTruck754 wrote:Jealousy - yes. Pressure??? Not really.

Re: "Oldbaja"
I picked up the frame from "the Fab" on Saturday. All the little frame mods that it needed are done and I'll get it to the powder coater sometime this week. It should be nice to look at after the color. As you can see I built a little straight axle to tow the frame around. Works slick!

Re: "Oldbaja"
So.......long time no post. Well, cab & frame nothing to report. But with some help from Ryan and John from The Fab we were able to clean up the front end a little. I think she looks good and looks great with her teeth back in.
