Re: White 1994 F-150 Sleeper Build
Thanks Brian! Haha, I wish I was heading out to the dez this weekend...instead I'll be doing the Lake Hodges 50k on Saturday, and then not leaving the couch for the entire rest of the weekend lol!

Now you need some super inset wheels to correct your less than desirable scrub radius.

Re: White 1994 F-150 Sleeper Build
LOL ... no need for different offset wheels. What he has is fine and will handle great, speaking from experience of these exact parts on a similar truck. You of all people should know that you're always making compromises when you're using parts that are designed to use stock and aftermarket parts that cant be changed or vary and you're making things stronger. In a perfect world i-beams and spindles would have corrected kpi and scrub radius to match a specific wheel offset and tire size combination ... the problem is all the variables out there. Wheels, tires, hub designs, steering arm geometry, rotor size, caliper dimensions ... the list goes on. We have to build something that works with 90% of those combinations. So we bring the wheel closer in this case, well now the rotor hits the steering arm, then we move the rotor outward to solve that issue, but now the 4 piston caliper doesn't clear the backside of the wheel because how its cast and machined and the caliper has a wide profile ....... etc etc etc.BDKW1 wrote:Now you need some super inset wheels to correct your less than desirable scrub radius.
How do you feel about Raptors and Tundras that go with 17" KMC and Method wheels that have 4.75" of backspacing when their stock stock suspension geometry is set up for wheels that have 6-7" of backspacing? They have less than desirable scrub radius as well, worse than this setup .. but thousands out there are running them like that with no issues. Scrub radius is a form of tuning of the suspension and handling, hence why it will vary from builder to builder at the highest level. Zero isn't the answer for everyone. As soon as you put larger tires on a truck you change your scrub radius.
Im not gonna turn this into a debate, this is a thread about a truck build and a happy owner. Lets keep it that way

Thanks for saving me the typing Scott...and saying it better than I could have anyways.

Finally got the chance to snap some pics of the truck now that everything is all back together.
And here's a couple detail shots of the steering.

Can't say enough good things about the work that Jonny and Cho did on this thing.

I feel that they will be just fine parading around the mall parking lot. If you actually use your truck, excessive scrub puts a lot of extra leverage on steering. Plain and simple fact, no debating about it.motoxscott wrote:How do you feel about Raptors and Tundras that go with 17" KMC and Method wheels that have 4.75" of backspacing when their stock stock suspension geometry is set up for wheels that have 6-7" of backspacing?

Well that's perfect then, because that's what this truck is built for. The mall parking lot!

You should have cam burg swap out your hubs for 6x135 lug pattern, order your rear lend to match then run raptor wheels.
Fix the scrub and have a cool old mixed with new raptor.

Been there done that. I'd keep what you have.nubreed71 wrote:Or just sell it and buy a raptor!
Re: White 1994 F-150 Sleeper Build
That was purely in jest...I'd take my truck over a Raptor every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Re: White 1994 F-150 Sleeper Build
Scored a deal on a bed on Craigslist that I couldn't pass up. Gonna hang those Autofab bedsides with the bed off the truck, and then just do a bed swap. Anyone want to buy my old bed with flared sides and Line X liner?
Bed is pretty clean. Once it's spray lined, it'll look awesome.
Decided to do the majority of the cutting, but leave the taillight section for another day.

Re: White 1994 F-150 Sleeper Build
Been chipping away at getting these bedsides hung. Definitely a bit of a PITA, especially since I want to retain the use of my tailgate, but this bed should look perfect once the sides are hung, and everything has been spray lined.

Re: White 1994 F-150 Sleeper Build
Turned out great!! I'm liking your bed storage setup, been thinkin bout doin somethin like that in the back of my Bronco to keep my 5-gallon water jug, ammo can, and tool box secure on trails. Is that a custom mount?
Potato.
Re: White 1994 F-150 Sleeper Build
The jerry can mount is from Smittybilt, and the quart crates are from C4 fabworks, as is the jack and jack mount. Hope that helps!

Re: White 1994 F-150 Sleeper Build
Thanks man! I finally sourced one of those annoyingly hard to find oem Bronco interior spare tire carriers, so I'm super glad that my spare will no longer be bouncing around in the back soon, now to secure everything else
Potato.
Re: White 1994 F-150 Sleeper Build
Had a fun trip out to Ocotillo Friday/Saturday.
Got the hub centric 'burg center caps mounted up
Truck ran great with the new steering, but ran into a fuel pressure issue late Friday night. Was mashing through some decent sized whoops at about 60 when I lost fuel pressure. Engine cut out and couldn't get it to fire back up. Checked the inertia switch, checked the fuel filter for a clog, all fine. Can hear the fuel pumps priming when I turn the key to the on position, but not getting pressure at the rails. Fuel lines don't seem to have any pinches/holes anywhere. So had to call the AAA chase truck for a ride home:
Had a chance to go for a hot lap in the CHOnco...that thing is amazing. So fun riding in that beast!
All in all a fun weekend...wish I could have driven home under my own power, but I guess of all the reasons to take a flatbed home, this is probably the least of a big deal.
