am i doing it wrong?

Post by mobil1syn »

i feel like im having to chop too much of the beam to clear the axle. driver at full droop, trying to get the passenger to full bump. c&t stock width beams, 12" coilover, going about 1/2-3/4" past stock bump. im almost to the seam on the beam and still have another 1" to go until bump. thoughts?

Are you stock width with stock fenders? 35” tires? Your tires will rub before you get that far into bump. Put your tires on and see how far you can go and still turn and set bump accordingly.

^^^What he said. Also, don't forget to check clearance at your ac box! You can destroy the box, ask me how i know...

Are you running the inner fenders? I usually have to set the bump with the beams about 2” from the frame in order to turn and not rub the fenders and airbox.

One last thing to check is if the center U-joint is binding under full droop.

It is not the clearancing that you need but to rotate it and make sure it is not binding while it turns

Lol that’s about exactly what I did. I have seen a race truck from years back that they did almost this very thing like we basically did— so I don’t think we are wrong :-)
