Turning radius of long travel TTB (extra width)

Hey guys I have been reading as much as I can about long travel TTB. I was wondering from the guys that have extended turned/cut beams how does the truck handle for daily activities? Is it any worse than say a lifted duramax? my diesel takes about 4 lanes+ to U turn so I'm used to fairly poor turning radius. But I was reading some differing accounts of extended beams having poor low speed handling. Any input would be great thanks!!

Depending on the location that the radius arm mounts to the beam, you probably will get better turning radius than stock. 33”+ tires rub on the radius arms if you don’t set the turn stops. When you extend the beams you have more clearance before the tires hit the radius arms.

Its all in set up there is a lot to proper steering and suspension geometry more than some think or realize so do your home work. Both my broncos stock width and 4.5" over can turn around in 2.5-3 lanes easily with no median but they are both on 3 wheels when they do it. But that is do to rear suspension.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah I'm trying to wrap my head around the proper steering setup for a bronco with 4.5"+ I understand a little bit about steering ackermann and trying to understand how to apply that - if its something that I'll need to fabricate or if a stock system can be adjusted to work.

First off don’t go wider- absolutely a waste of money! My stock width CT beams with about a 12” longer radius arm turns on a dime— there’s not a uturn I can’t make with miles to spare. Wider looks really cool but I’d never ever — ever do that again! Ever!

Well we got one vote for stock width and one vote for wider.

I own two Broncos, one stock width and one 4" over, both on coilovers up front with deavers in the back. Both are a lot of fun to drive but I think my wider Bronco handles better. I'll never build another stock width bronco or truck again.
