Fiveology Installers Please Chime In...

Post by VintageIronFab »

Hello All,
I'm about to pull the trigger on a Fiveology kit to hopefully fix my "gremlin" in my truck that no one can seem to figure out. I'm just wondering a couple things 1.) do you remove the factory harness that goes to the engine. 2.) is their harness already have the connectors for the egr, tps installed?

They provide a kit that comes with a new pcm (mustang) maf, an overlay harness.

The overlay harness comes with connectors for the injectors, the additional 02 sensor (speed density has 1) and the MAF. It does not come with related ignition connectors and wiring.

For what it's worth, I'm thinking you have a module issue. Multiple distributor issues, let me know if your PCM fixes the issue.

If it doesn't, let me know, I'm likely buying a maf truck to swap my suspension over to (too good of a deal to pass up) and I could sell you my kit cheap.

Well being in the Midwest and ZERO mobile guys in the area to trouble shoot - I punted to the Holley Terminator system. I think my issue was the square factory connector that connects the main harness to the injector/distributor harness. I tried to reuse the factory ford square connector and it wasn't powering up components it doing it sporadically. I think it was a grounding issue and probably a simple one but something I couldn't see honestly due to frustration. I was pretty sure Fiveology used a MAF truck ECU?? I'm going to run the terminator unless or until it leaves me hanging high and dry but I want to use my factory Lightning tubular upper manifolds. I know now why some use a Holley 750 and a C6!

If you have a basic small block that's not too radicle I think I would lean towards the Holley Sniper for one simple reason-- they actually do have some tech help-- even on sat til 2pmcst which is kinda huge. I'm planning on a return to the factory stuff but not unless I can get it from a running truck or someone that can help mobile wise if I have an issue-- a second set of on site eyes is worth the cost easily. I think had I had the issue in Phoenix it would have been a $300 well spent fix. I will say this if I had a C6 - putting the 89-93 Mustang injection or the 96-2000 Explorer injection on would be a no brainer. I did the 89-93 back in the summer of 1999 and the internet was just barely rocking. If you are doing the Fiveology It would be great to have someone actually chronicle what all is needed for the install. This site is kinda dead but there are still people who could really benefit from the info.

Fiveology customer service is pretty good too I've had Brian call me back at 9PM (11PM his time) to make sure I had the info I needed. The instructions are super descriptive and all components sent are brand new and carry a lifetime warranty.
