Frame Notches, Inner Fender & Hydro Bumps???

Post by VintageIronFab »

Hello All,
So like the subject says on my 95 F150 i want to add a frame notch to my 64" spring kit. I'm 4" over a side on the rear with 35" tires. Does anyone know if with a frame notch how much you need to tub the F150 bed to utilize a 3" notch? Also I wanted to build something like a cross-brace along with a mount of sorts similar to what's used on the 10-14 Raptor to mount hydro-bumps and make the frame a touch more rigid. Anyone seen anything like what I'm describing?

Thx,
Matt

Pretty sure you're going to be the first on this site to do this and find out for the rest of us.

Check out CHO's build. He does a notch and adds pieces above the notch. Granted he is supporting with a cage, think your asking for trouble if not additionally supported by a cage.

I think most of us that have a notch are reinforced with a cage. Image

My C notch was done by CHO and he reinforced/plated the outside and bottom of my C notch. Weakness in the frame was something I was curious about. I'm cageless till this summer, I will add my rear bumps at that time.

Here is the signature CHO notch and plating that he did on many of our broncos. There are a few guys that run it without cages but I believe he goes a little more notch if he is caging.
