From my research the LQ4 heads don't flow that bad at all!! They do have lower compression ratio with stock pistons though. Im going to run them to keep the motor Pmex friendly.

Any LS based motor is gonna be light years ahead of our stock motors. Im glad some of you are taking the leap, I cant wait to see what comes of it.

317 heads do flow well, however I have iron heads and I am looking for a bit more power than a stock LQ4 makes...

The upgrade cost from an aluminum 317 head to L92/LS3 isn't much if you have to buy one or the other.

Most people that run 317 heads mill them and use a thinner head gasket to regain compression.

Did you dyno your stock motor? I bet my Bronco only put 175 hp down with headers, intake, and all the other bolt ons.

FYI, my stock 302 was rated at 185 hp, and this LQ4 6.0L is rated at 325.

I know a guy with a buggy that he put a 6.0 from an escalade in and only made 212 to the rear wheels on a dyno.

On the same note as to why LS motors are cheap, how is the coyote motor swap 15k? There's a ton of wrecked f150s (I know they don't have the same hp rating as a mustang) in yards all over the place that have everything you need to do the swap the same way you would with an LS motor. There's also a ton of f250 fleet trucks in with almost 400 hp 6.2s in them, where do all of the wrecked ones go? How long is a 6r140?

Soooo sorrrryyyyy

Truck manifolds fit on mine.

And it hauls the mail, enough to flex ring gears out of shape and prematurely wear them ;)

I'm in with bike action.... At the drags... I beat my buddies zx14 4 out of 5 runs.

So, Mike what exactly is done to your engine? What cam? What tune?

It has spent lots of time on cbms dyno, has a "custom grind" lunati cam , and then all ls6 parts that will bolt to the outside of the block.. Next up will be a full stainless exhaust when I find some time, and back to the dyno.

Resurrecting a zombie thread here, sorry if this breaks etiquette. I'm putting an LQ4, 4L80E, and NP208 in an 88 bronco now. I bought the mounts from Autofab. I'm sure there's been a bunch of these out there already. Anyone have any insights or tips?
