Thought I would share these even though its not a bronco but a Blazer  ....Anyways Desert Concepts is workign this project for a customer the interior has been rhino lined and the shop is getting the cage into it. The build is calling for 4 buckets and a bench in the cargo area. Due to the narrow frame and the bench in the rear some creativity is taking place onto some pics..and the cage is not finished but in progress

Cage Tubing Size Recommendation

Post by RSR »

I am getting ready to purchase materials for a full cage front to rear on a bronco which will have rear seating. I have ready access to 1.75 OD .095 wall DOM tubing. Though this truck will be entered in some limited cross country racing in Texas, we are doing this for fun, and this truck is not intended to be a full on race vehicle. The cage will be properly designed and constructed. It is my intention to add additional bars for strength during any racing which clamp in place but may be removed for rear seat access when being driven otherwise. What do you all think...Is the .095 wall sufficient, for should I try to find some .125 wall DOM for the main part of the cage. Thanks for your advice. RSR

I'd go .120 wall due to the bronco's weight - but that is just me.

x 2, Mate. 0.095 will do the job, but 0.120 will be stronger and give you better protection. A Bronco is heavy, so do it right the first time. :D

X3 .120 wall also check with your race org for specific requirements as an example for SCORE you need to move up to 2" based on weight Looking forward to seeing the project
