For those about to stretch...Ideal wheelbase?

Pickup bedsides take way more $labor$. What was done is patch panels from a JY doner Bronco. Panels for the floor, & inner and outer fender. Pretty logical since you will still need a doner even if you were to use a whole bedside. No fiberglass for mine because of the modestly wider axle. The fenders were just pushed out and rewelded.

For the amount of work it takes I would at least go to 117" to 125" wheelbase depending on what you are doing for suspension and drive train.

To me stretching and converting a Bronco to 2WD seems like a waste of effort when you could just build a truck or something else. Broncos work well in certain conditions because they are short and 4x4.

Broncos work great for everything, and if they don't you can change them till they do! Your pickup plan is good except a pickup isn't a bronco...and everyone knows, chicks dig guys with broncos.

Sounds like you've been hanging out in my neck of the woods too much Philo. People laugh when I call the 99 tacoma a "new" truck. To me it is new. Too dang new in fact and that's why it will be offed soon. The line above you bring up is the reason I have to "import" my girls from other areas. Newport Beach girls are way too high maintenance and sooooo not worth it!

Tell those girls that their train of thought on new vehicles is fine. But if your going to implement the "get rid of it when it gets old" rule, explain to them you use the same set of rules for girlfriends as you do for vehicles!

Man, that thing is gorgeous! Stretched "B" pillars look good too, but I love the look of the stretched shell.

Thaks for the pics I am a long way from SF and cannot get my laptop to connect.
Bronco is the same but has new side stripes.

BTW, the "B" pillar stretch is cheaper, but the cost difference is way lost in the total. The frame still has to be lengthened at the same place as mine. At the only flat place on the frame rails. See the pics.

My axle wheel mount to wheel mount is the same as a van. I cannot remember the number, but I reported it previously. Maybe on the 9" thread???
One has to measure carefully with aftermarket wheels because of they don't always use the stock offset. That will screw up pulled fenders and might require glass. Stupid wide rims have the same issue.

i run stock alcoas not only beucase they are bad ass but because they are narrow and have a good backspace. 7" wide would have been suffice.
