Pics of rear set-ups? Pretty basic. Spirit Racing. Very similar to Autofab. Old pictures, but only difference currently is I made shackles for it a couple years ago.

quick question...

DEAVER says the f64 coils are 5.5" of lift...and the j40 leafs are 5" lift...
however, my JBG paperwork says the SUPERFLEX leafs are 4"?! :o

which is correct?
iam getting ready to order shocks from BILSTEIN.

That is a sweet setup. I would really like to see some close-up pics of the ends of the truss, both the outer ends and where they meet the center section.

That's a Curt LeDuc-built Bronco owned by a guy named Lee Hayes.

Both front and rear suspensions cycle at 16 inches--it's stock width.

I shot this a few years ago for Off-Road Magazine--that may actually be one of my photos. I still have the original pics, but they're archived.

One of my favorite Bronco's ever!

So what are the Deaver part numbers for Bronco springs?

Is there any spring under options?

J40 3" wide
F53 2.5" wide

I'd rather stick with the 3" wide springs, I'd assume the J40 is a spring over set up as well.

That's correct. I believe the 64" kit from Giant is spring under. I think they're national leafs.

Deaver makes the spring to Giant's specification.

National does very little for desert racers these days.

I stopped by National the other day, and the guy I talked to said they can make you a custom pack for $700 (I believe) He said there are too many variables to be selling bolt on packs.

anyone got any more pics of upper wishbones on broncos with leafsprings?

seems like a better option for me and my 8.8 already has a truss on it. The rear seems to walk about on these vehicles a lot more than trucks and I think a triangulated wishbone would help tighten it up by keeping the axle located better.

Im torn on designs though and heim choices. I was originally going to go for the standard design like if I was building a 3link so that if I ever decided on links down the road it would be easier. I dont think it needs to be super heavy duty as its not going to see huge stress while using leaf springs so I either go light and cheap right now or heavy and strong. I have no idea if i will ever link my bronco. I really dont want to modify the rear fenderwells any more than i already have

any ideas?

The walking is just the short wheel base. Links aren't going to change that. It's the nature of the beast. You get used to it. I only feel it when driving in or out of driveways at an angles at a somewhat fast speed.

Seems like any links that limit side to side movement more than the leaf springs is going to create a lot of binding during articulation even if you could get the other axis to swing without interference. If you floated the springs and used long links it would track better because your wheelbase isnt changing so much from side to side. Shorter the wheelbase the more it turns with the same wheelbase change.

makes sense to me on the wheelbase. The rear feels decent with the new leaves and shocks but still seems to push side to side in the rear in the whoops or turning under throttle it will act like it wants to unload in the back. Ive ridden in explorers with this same feeling so its prob a combination of wheelbase and where the vehicle is carrying weight. Spring rate(s) and vertical movement seem solid, rear just feels sloppy to me.

I think the upper wishbone would have a lot less binding than a standard 2 link just because it will be able to articulate better and the orientation of the link realative to the leaves seems like it would support more travel bind free. Im currently at 13in of rear wheel travel on the strap, which might not even be enough to even create an issue with bind. Ive also considered two upper links 4link style and also a reverse wishbone setup has been considered though that would change shock mounting quite a bit and would be more work. i like the idea of being able to adjust it too which means i could either dial up or down the spring front load

should I even be wasting my time? do links really help that much on these vehicles? I plan to either link my bronco or get giants 64 kit (have a lot of experience with that kit and love it). If i am to add a wishbone now it would make that decision easier but Im not convinced it is worth the effort.

Might be in your shock setup too. If they are in stock position they are pretty far inboard. Mounting outside of frame and valving would probably make a big difference. A lot of stock full class vehicles have some interesting combinations of angled shocks. I wonder if some of that is to counter sway tendencies as well as fitting them under a bed.
