I need some help here guys...

So heres the deal, i found some new national leafs for a f150 and C&D shackles for $600...First off is that a good price? Also can i use these shackles with some sort of spacers?

Heres the specs the guy gave me on the springs:
10 leaf pack
leaf eyelet to eyelet - 52"
spring width - 2.5"
spring arch - 14"
shackle eyelet to eyelet - 7.25" - Is this to long?

Should I go for it?

you can use spacers, or washers. I think that shacle may be too long, well it will work, but you'd have to do some trimming on the floor. Offer him a little less.

Trimming the floor can cause problems, leap frog the hanger to lower it so the shackle just clears the floor. I will be doing this on my bronco.

How much less without the shackles? You can run them with the stockers, the extended shackles just give the leafs a little more performance. Then later if you want, you give Mark from Southwest performance a call, and get a set of these.

That's just what I've heard old guys call it. You just take a piece of angle iron and bolt it to the bottom of the frame and then move the hangar down and bolt it to the angle and frame. This way you get a longer shackle without changing ride height or pinion angle.

Nick the guy said he wants $100 for the shackles which means I could get the leafs for $400. What does Mark charge for his shackles?

Picking up the leaf springs and shackles after work today!

To make up for the 1/2 in difference in leaf spring width I was going to cut out some 2.5 in diameter washers using 1/4 inch plate.

Would you guys recommend welding them to the inside of the leaf hanger so they dont rotate?

You don't need to weld them, if the leaf springs bolts are tightened enough they won't rotate and the bushing will do it's job.

My Deavers are 54.25 eye to eye, and are exactly 2.5 inches.

FWIW the 2.25 will work...I would be concerned with roll though. I have heard some dont like the 2.5" spring for this very reason. I stucke with a 3" wide spring the J40 from Deaver not sure what the measurments are but I like this much better than the one with less arch.

If it were me I would see if you can get your money back on the springs and shackles and either wait for a set to shjow up on the classifieds or make a trip to deaver and see what kind of a deal you can make. I wont post the price I paid for my last set but it was less than what you paid used. I know I got a"good guy" price becuase A they were on the shelf and B we were one week out from a race and my bronco was the priamry chase vehicle for that one so they took pity on us

Another thing to consider is you really have no idea of knowing how many miles/hours of abuse these springs have.....
If you cant get your money back go for it, either drop the schackles to clear the floor or pick up a set for the F 150 (2wd) and use a washer or two and you will be good to go.
Let us know how it goes with the narrower spring, if you keep them.
