Fox 2.0 performance shocks

Post by Tchajagos »

I’m in the process of picking shocks to go on my mostly stock suspension bronco. I am really leaning towards a set of fox 2.0 performance shocks. Basically a set of fairly cheap (~$150 each) rebuildable shocks. Has anyone done this or though of doing this and have part numbers? Fox doesn’t have anything specifically for broncos but with so many other trucks supported I was hoping there would be something that could work.

I ponied up for a set of Reservoir fox's that I was able to find for around 200 each. Has yours got a lift or not? I am running the solo kit using part number 985-24-056.

I am running a pair of Bilstein 7100 reservoir shocks. Same concept. My truck has a 4" lift, Deaver J40s, extended shackles and raised shock mounts. The 7100s really tame the ride down. The neighbors hate it, but my Bronco takes speed bumps at 45 mph like they are not even there.

My bronco doesn’t have a lift and I was hoping to find something for the stock shock upper mounts. I guess it just comes down to getting the correct compressed length.

I assume this is for the rear bc you mention stock upper mount? I have a Threat upper shock mount to put on and am going to put on some Bilstein 5165s. My bronco will never be a prerunner and only has a front leveling coil so it should be plenty of damping for me.

Getting the shock to fit is a matter of compressed and extended length for sure. You will also have to deal with the question of valving, for which you will have lots of options on those Fox 2.0s.

That is what I did. They had the stem/eye for the front if needed down to a 5 or 6 inch travel.

i have a set of Fox 2.0 resi shocks on my 1978 Flareside 4x4. The setup is similar to the Bronco, but straight axle, not IFS, and a 4" spring. They are 10" stroke with stems or bayonet top mounts. I had to move the bottom mount lower to get the travel right. I had enough room to get the shock beside the radius arm, instead of over it, which gave me a good travel shock without putting in hoops. I do not know if you could squeeze in a shock between the caliper and a radius arm on a IFS setup.

What lift are you running in the front with those foxes and how do they ride? I have Bilstein 5100s and a 2" lift from desolate but would like to do a 4" c&t and no one appears to offer foxes any more. It's either Bilsteins or coilovers

How would you rate that set up? What do you primarily use the rig for? Is it comfortable on the washboards at speed?
