Re: Start Your Go-Fast Build-Front Suspension
As far as bump travel (BT) over the stock 2" BT. C/T beams with a 4" Lift should net more BT than 4" drop brackets, correct?

Are you confused yet?
4" drop bracket require bumps just like any other method. Only thing different than cut & turn is the dimensions of the bump.
What is you real question? Maybe some one could help?

Drop brackets = bad bump travel, droop travel, and every other kind of travel.
cut and turn = happy geometry, happy travel

If nothing else changed and we ignore the wheel geometry, strength, & etc... then.convoy wrote:As far as bump travel (BT) over the stock 2" BT. C/T beams with a 4" Lift should net more BT than 4" drop brackets, correct?
Lowering the pivot and changing nothing else will yield some increased travel before hitting the stops.
C/T has zero effect on travel; the geometry set by the C/T is critical but it is a fixed geometry.

Not necessarily. With the appropriate prep (bump stops, limit straps, etc.), small drop bracket are capable of functioning well. The D35 TTB works best with a small drop bracket to free up some bump and droop travel.DirtFiend602 wrote:Drop brackets = bad bump travel, droop travel, and every other kind of travel.
Same as above. There are some piss poor examples of "cut and turn" front ends out there.DirtFiend602 wrote:cut and turn = happy geometry, happy travel

I guess I was assuming it was being done properly, lol... Drop brackets scare me unless they are reinforced, and even then? I think I remember reading something on TRS about the 35s and drop brackets, now that you mention it.

Wasn't trying to confuse anyone. Just a random thought in my head yesterday of bump travel gains from the methodolgy of Cut and Turning. Since I was looking at Gunit's Class 3 build pics with his modified beam pivots yesterday, my mind was busy at work.

Re: Start Your Go-Fast Build-Front Suspension
I run rancho drop brackets and haven't had a problem yet. I've just made sure that the bolts are tight and there isn't any cracks.
EDIT : (Thank you Andy) I have not seen any ill effects bump or droop that would be caused by the brackets. Shane from bilstein runs drop brackets and he loves them.

You get slightly more bump travel with lowered pivots and a 4" spring than with a 4" spring and stock pivots, however it needs to be limited if you have an AC box or stock firewall depending on tire size.

I just rolled my tire forward as far as I could. It barely clears but it does miss it, but I am running 315/ 75 r16's instead of a 35. A small difference.

Re: Start Your Go-Fast Build-Front Suspension
I I move the wheelbase forward an inch.. how tight is bump with stock pivots to the ac/heater box? im also running 315/75 16's.... I'd really prefer not to trim it... there was a guy selling aluminum boxes he was making but i can't seem to find the add anymore.

Just trim back the box and patch with aluminum. There is a pic or 2 on here of how guys have done it. No need for a complete, aluminum box unless you want to "out bling" your friends.

If you bring me some Jamaica there could be!! Haha - kidding. I'll pick that stuff up tonight on my way outta town. I'll be back Monday and leave again Sat. morning for 10 days. So we can look at it sometime in Mid september - after I get to Tony's GPS brackets.Silverslk wrote:There "could" be some pics of this posted up soon......huh Steve???ChaseTruck754 wrote:Just trim back the box and patch with aluminum. 35s don't touch the trimmed box. They do rub the stock fenderliner, but not much. Adjust your bumps so it workes like mine.
