My buddy and I had 4 then scored 4 more when a shop closed doors. It's nice to be able to have both trucks completely off the ground.

I'd say it's one of the best investments if you plan to do a lot of work yourself.

I'd say this thread is officially derailed.... but only because now I'm thinking about jack stands too, haha!

To build or to buy?

Who makes the coolest ones and what do they cost?

Those folding ones go for 80-125ish at airgas if I remember correctly. Sry for the derailment btw its my fault.

continuing on the derale...

They are all pretty similar from what I've seen. Look them up on Mcmastercar.com or google "pipe stands". The Rigid brand ones can be had for about $50 + shipping. That is not folding though. The folding ones are about $100-125.

I got 2 8ft sections of 1 inch acme thread and 8 nuts for $80 I have built 4 stands out of some 1.25 .250 wall and angle iron. Not the prettiest things but they are required for leveling a vehicle properly.

Best price I've seen for those. They look to be the same ones Mcmastercarr lists & gets more for

I think it's worth buying them if you want the fold up ones. Floor space is a premium in my shop so I have to be able to fold them. The fold up ones still stand verticle when folded so I store all 8 or mine under breath a work bench and only a 2'x 2' space

exactly why I want folding. They look like they'll take up 1.2 the space as my others. I've just been too cheap to buy them thus far.

Same here space is a premium, I've already built 6 and gave 4 away due to space restrictions and lack of use.
