I know it works well as I have riden in a truck with a very similar setup. But I am looking for a more technical post explaining the design. I have tried searches but have come up with very little.
The rear suspension has a rising rate due to linkage. This same idea is used on high performance atv and motorcycle rear suspension. This makes it work really well due to the dampening and spring rate increasing the farther the rear end compresses. It also separates the anti-squat, roll understeer, and roll center from the shocks/coils allowing you to optimize each separately with less interference to each other. An added plus is also more weight past the rear tires which stabilizes the body in rough stuff.

Computer optimization is really needed to figure all the variables.

Thanks for the input. I have read some articles on jeep forums about 1/4 elliptical set ups as they are similar. Not that a lot of the jeep stuff applies it is interesting. Here is one of the better articles I have read. http://www.jeepaholics.com/tech/quarterellip/
Some of the stuff in the article I think are a little extreme for most GFB as far as break over and steep angles approached. Good read though.
Philo, thanks for the input.
