Ford EEC-V ... re-purpose 4 low settings ?

Post by NikBraap »

Was just studying the pin outs from the Ford EEC-V PCM (ODB II Broncos) and found that there is Pin 14.

Pin 14 is connected to the 4 lo light on the dash and tells the PCM that the TC is in 4 low.
That's why it revs way higher in 4 lo, has different shift points, etc.

Would be cool to just use this to toggle between two different shift point settings via a button on the dash! :geek:

Does anybody know if you can modify the 4 lo mode and adjust shift points via SCT software?

I don't know about the capability of the SCT software but I know you can program this via Binary Editor. I run a blown 5.8 in a '96 FSB which I tune via Binary Editor. That said, the pcm uses two different schemes for the two different shift points. The regular E4OD shift points are determined by a combination of rpm, speed and throttle position. That's why it downshifts when you step on the gas even if speed and rom haven't changed yet. The 4x4 Low scheme shifts solely based on rpm and speed so it is a much more limited profile.

Talked to Juanco: He said you can use it as a 2nd shift schedule.
I'll do that, as soon as my Bronco is done at Solo... I'll keep you guys posted.

Ford EEC-V ... re-purpose 4 low settings ?

Oh man that's exciting. Maybe I'll dive into that and see if it needs a 5 or 12v signal. 12v would be nice to just through a switch on it but I could easily make a 5v step down. Or just use a car USB charger lol.
