Hydrodipping 92-96 Dash???

Post by VintageIronFab »

Hello All,
I’m just curious but have any of you seen or done a hydrodipping treatment to the dash?? I’ve done a full covered interior on my F1 and it’s just beautiful truthfully. I lightly sandblasted the dash cover, fully cleaned it and sprayed it with SEM. It’s very nice but I want better durability. Here’s kinda the kicker on the HD -a base is painted say a nice satin black, a dip with a pattern is laid down - think anything from RealTree pattern to carbon fiber- and then a low gloss clear shot over the top. About the only thing that would look right is carbon fiber and that can be really toned down so it’s pretty subtle. Anyway it’s not cheap but it’s not overly expensive. Just hoping someone can talk about durability more than anything.

Thx,
Matt

I’ve always wondered too. I believe with a proper clear cost it’s as durable as any painted surface.

How does ford apply the pinstriping or wood grain to the factory dash trim?
