C6 neutral safety switch leak ???

Post by wookiee156 »

Sooo I’ve been trying to narrow down a leak in my c6 tranny and after replacing the pan gasket 2x (don’t ask) I’ve now noticed a bit of a small drip on my shift linkage and it looks as it’s coming out of the middle of the neutral safety switch has anyone ever delt with this how easy is it to fix? I’ve checked the interweb and I don’t trust the information I do trust my gfb family more thanks for the help I’ll post pictures if needed

There's an O-ring that seals that kick down shaft. There is another special seal that seals the shifter shaft. The down side is the pan has to come off to change them, they have retaining nuts that or only accessible from the inside of the trans. It also looks like you need to drop the valve body to access the retainer nuts. Not really a big deal, just messy. You have to make sure you get the shift linkage engaged in the valve body when you stick it back up there. The pictures are of a manual valve body, so there are quite a few parts that aren't there that would be in an auto valve body. Might as well do both shaft seals if you have it opened up.

Just consider it a rust preventative and keep driving it! Sam's Club has ATF pretty cheap..........
