TTB Dana 44 internal components compatibility

I was wondering if the internal diff and gears from a 1986 Bronco Dana 44 fit in a 1981 bolt on axle housing?

Yes but if you are regearing to over 4.00 numerically you will have to get a different carrier. You will have to setup the new housing with shins to get the pattern back because no housing is the same. If you are going through all that why not just put in new bearings while your at it? Pretty much the only thing I reuse when regearing a Dana 44 are the spider gears/pin and housing.
