Others have figured out what gas springs to use and there are kits on the market for Broncos. If you were to do something different here is a site to help calculated the gas springs for the hood.http://www.gecea.com/hatchlifters/gas-springs

For steel or fiberglass-- if steel then I would have to think a later model F150 or Superduty steel hood that uses the gas struts would be pretty damn close.

I use wild Horses hood springs for both the EB and the 96. Both have glass hoods. WH uses a 40# spring which is not adequate. I replaced the 40s with 60s for both. Turns out several other vendors use the 40s. Done even think about one spring 2 are required. The replacement 60s are not stocked by the auto stores so one has to order online.
Gas struts or gas springs are all metric in Newtons and mm, so do your math.
