Gas Smell from Engine Area??

Post by VintageIronFab »

Hello All,
So I'm driving the bronco for the first time in a couple if months and man what a blast even on the street! So I'm driving her pretty hard and can smell a hint if gas through the a/c vents. The temps are seemingly a little high and slightly down on power. Just curious before I start tearing in as to any chronic issues that I should be looking for?? Nothing under the truck that I can see.

Thanks,
Matt

2nd. Check where the fuel lines plug into the fuel rail too.

Rent a fuel pressure regulator. Turn the key on and off a couple times and watch the pressure gauge. It should hold pressure and not drop quick. I believe it takes a half hour before total bleed down. If it goes down quick you've got a fuel leak. Start there along with looking at the exhaust flange for soot marks.

Being is my birthday yesterday and the holiday weekend I haven't tried to get after this but I did check something today. When I got home I popped the hood right after I turned off the engine, took off the schrader valve cap and pushed in the valve. I was expecting a shot of fuel and all I really got was a small dribble honestly. I am thinking the pump or the regulator just isn't getting it done. Any thoughts on that being an issue?
