Glass Pictures/Mfgrs.
Has anyone here put togeather, or is there a place where we could go to see pictures of all the various Fiberglass fenders and bed sides, hoods, etc, and who made them?

How about a best to not-so list for fit, finish, durability in Bronco Glass?

I like you're idea Dust, I'll post some pictures of the Autofab fenders I had mounted on my old 1984 Bronco as well as some pictures of my nephew's former ride that had Hannaman (sp?) glass later this afternoon.

Since I've dealt with all (fitted, run, had custom molds made, etc.) how about I give you a run down?Dust wrote:Ok....

Now not being a true bronco guy the downfall to this is I have never fitted any of this stuff to a bronco - just toyotas, rangers, old chevies and old fords. BUT, that doesn't matter a ton as if people SUCK at making molds for one truck they will most likely suck at making molds for another.
Top quality goes to Autofab for sure. Fit is the best I've seen in off road stuff (doesn't really need trimming from what I've seen) and the glass is nicely laid and good thickness. Not overly thick and not too thin.
Next come hannemann. Fitment is usually pretty good and I KNOW these guys know how to make a quality mold that will get a lot of true parts out of it. Their glass can be a little thick for my liking, but I'd rather them error on the thick side rather than the thin like most others.
Glassworks is third in line. Decent thickness and fit (sometimes needs trimming). While I've had my issues with Tim and others claim having a hard time getting him to deliver on glass sometimes he does know how to make a good looking part. I personally like his "lines" on the glass he makes much better than others.
From here I'll just step down to what I consider "lower" quality stuff.
Boatec and Trailer products I'll lump into 1. These guys are typically short course glass guys and we have to remember that because of this they are really striving to keep costs down for people that replace their glass about once every race. That being said I know T.P. buys whatever resin is on sale that week and lays their stuff up REALLY thin. Boatec seems to do the same. It is race glass though so they want the light/thin.
McNeil's - I'll lump these guys all together (Perry, Jason, Chad). It has been a while since I have used any of these guys but there is reason behind that. The glass seems to always need fitment, and sometimes LOTS of it. While some trimming/fitment is the norm for off road glass now theoretically it shouldn't be. However - these guys need more trimming than most.
If you want more on this stuff - check DR. There is a thread going on Fiberwerx right now where guys bitch about 1 piece clips with grills/hood scoops or whatever being a couple inches off from one side to another. http://www.dezertrangers.com/vb/showthread.php?t=111097
It does NOT take a rocket scientist (or even a great glass guy) to make a symmetrical part. These guys also have issues with quality of molds and parts coming out of molds. I don't know if they are just rushing to get new designs to market now or something buy there are a lot of people bitching about poor fit and symmetry. Guys will deal with that for the "cool" trohy truck louver BS they put out. Not my thing - so I won't...
and the last place winner is.......
Custom Tube Works. This guy just seems to splash other people's molds and call it his own. If you're into bottom line price only then he MAY be for you. Expect some fitment issues though http://www.dezertrangers.com/vb/showthread.php?t=110161

Hey you know I'll listen!
That glass I picked up for the Highboy by Autofab is top quality!
John has always had quality and been great since we first talked in 197... The rest I have zero experience with.

As for the sub zero temps - stuff should be fine. It does well with temp changes/fluctuations once it's cured.

Re: Glass Pictures/Mfgrs.
ive had my bronco wheel wells so packed with snow ....i dont think the sub degrees will affect them.
auto fab glass is great.thats what i have.they fir line up well.i have had good experiance with mc neil glass, but that was when it was run by perry and son.he had his stock of glass lined up on the side of his house.
all the conversion stuff(one pice clips) i have mounted have been from fiberworks, they were ok, the louvers were off a bit on every one i installed, but on a race car. it was thin, cracked easy, not very good quality.
if you are going with bronco fiber glass
use auto-fab glass, the bed sides may be thin, but there are no air bubbles and it is made in america.

Ok, snow worries about temperature
I am thinking about glass to cover the wheels and tires I will run and to let me keep it a little lower, BUT mostly this basic build will "look" like it is one of the Cool kids!

Here is a set of Autofab OEM style 3" larger wheel well opening fiberglass fenders and I have to say the fit was nearly perfect.
IMO Autofab makes the best fiberglass.

Re: Glass Pictures/Mfgrs.
Here is the pic of mine, I like the look because I hate the stock bronco look. So I might be different that others. This is a perry fab abd fiber conversion. I dont know many people who have it but it did need a lot of work. Personally if I were to buy glass again (which i will) it will be from glass works. Their stuff just looks the best and i am not a fan of John at autofab. He does good work but he and I dont see eye to eye. Any way here is mine.
