Re: Manual valve body?
you will have to maually shift through gears and down shift. it adds 500 hp to the ground........j/k
but an inconveniance for a truck driven on the street.i have been told it is stronger than the stock valve body.

Re: Manual valve body?
Even though the original standard valve body has the three gear positions on the shifter (C6), it will not always shift and hold those gears when in that shifter position. In a racing application, you want it to stay in whatever gear you select. The manual valve body does away with a bunch of springs and balls and the entire governor assembly that goes on the tail shaft inside the tail housing.

Re: Manual valve body?
A manual valve body will increase the pressures in the transmission. The increased pressure will keep the trans from slipping, and allow you to down shift at anytime, instead of your normal valve body waiting untill it wants to down shift. With our Early Bronco, we have a manual shift C-4, and for offroad use it is awesome. Going down steep hills it will hold the lower gears and not freewheel like your normal trans valve body allows. I will be putting a full manual valve body in my 89's C-6. Like they said if it's your daily driver it is a hassle, but not that bad. There is trans kits that will up the pressures, allowing you to downshifts to be more firm and concise with out going full manual. If you get a full manual reverse valve body, you would be suprised how easy you can whoop up on little rice burners from stop light to stop light, lol.

Cool, thanks. Ipriced them out on TCI and they arn't that expensive, but is installing one extensive and costly?

If you dont have any experience with automatic transmission valve bodies, find someone who does. They are a pain if you haven't worked on one. But you can do it in a couple of hours. The instructions from TCI are pretty good, and you can call them. They have a decent tech line.
