I'm trying to get my research done before I buy.

I have the 4.5" Superlift lift leafs with 3" blocks (3" on the fat end in back, ~2.5" on the front) on top of the factory wedges and lil pinion shims. My truck currently sits even with the totally unused 5.5" deaver coils I put in front, and with the expected coil sag will sit slightly higher in the rear, which I like for an even stance when loading up the rear.

Soooo, JBG lists the Deaver J40s they sell as 4" lift springs. I intend to get the OE perches cut off and some longer length pad perches put on at the correct pinion angle. I have f450 front hangers (~1.5" longer) that I can use for the new spring setup. If I drop the rear hanger 1.5" or so can I also use longer shackles (5", 6"??) to make up for some of the height lost by eliminating blocks and having .5" shorter leafs without screwing up the ride quality (more concerned with onroad stability...)?

The J40's are definitely NOT 4" lifts, they are much more. I have Deaver 5.5's up front and J40's in the back with extended camburg shackles and no pinion wedges, and the rear is level with the front. I would say the J40's are more likely a 6" lift when new.

I've got superlift's 6 inch lift up front and J40s with no shims/blocks and stock shackles in back and it sits almost perfectly level... point being that the J40s are more than 4" of lift. I haven't put very many miles on my J40s yet, so I don't know if they will end up settling a little bit, but for now they are more like a 5.5-6 inch lift springs. I do really like them though.

So would you guys say it's safe to assume the J40's will sag to something like 5" lift?

Sydude, are your Camburg shackles the 6" ones that require some amount of frame modification?

Yes, that's what I've got. Mine needed very little trimming, nothing on the frame but just a little of the underbody lip at the back of the truck.

And yes, I wouldn't be surprised I they settled down quite a bit. By the way, they're really nice and supple.

You guys know where I can find a 1-2" longer than stock rear shackle hanger?

Do you mean longer hangers or shackles? If shackles, I think the camburg's are right around 1.5" longer than stock.

I'm betting he meant a shackle hanger.

I've used all sorts of stock ones off different trucks and may actually have some in the shop still. If you want I can compare what I have to the 87 bronco I have out front.

I know I have a pair of these here still

@Sydude I was just asking about the "shackle hanger" (or whatever it's really called ) that Chasetruck is showin' below. That said, I really appreciate the links to the extended camburg shackles. I had just PM'd the camburg guy on his FSB account a day or two ago asking about whether they still have em, but now I know where to get 'em, Thanks! The ones on the poly performace site look pretty much identical to the ones on the FSB threa, with the exception of the speed holes.

@Chasetruck The ones in your picture definitely look considerably longer than the ones that came stock on my 92! If you gotta set that's only 1-2" more distance between the shackle and rivets than the OE shackle hangers/mounts have, I'd gladly buy 'em. Do you know what those ones came offa? I was trying to find some f450 ones online and they all seem to be the same p/n as for 1/2 ton trucks on rockauto

The ones in the pic above are off a 91 dodge pickup.
I have chevy ones that drop even more. Haven't really seen any that drop less.

And most of the Ford ones I've seen are the same. Just move your stock ones down or fabricate custom ones.

Yeah hangers. Tig welded I believe, I'll have to take them out of the box. They will work for the bronco right? They are definately longer.

Get a chance to look at just how much longer they are? Started thinking about it and it may actuall work out fine if its 3" longer. My logic is that I'll be running a 1.5" longer front hanger and the extended shackles will kill about 1" of ride height. I'll match the rear up to the front with a 3" longer shackle hanger.
Just move your stock ones down or fabricate custom ones.
