Battery light on???
ok heres the story.
Have had the Batt light on intermitently for a while with no issues.
I pulled the ALT and had it tested twice it came back fine.
I replace the battery with a new Interstate.
now it seems like it only charges part of the time.
the guage will be down and then spike high? Voltage Regulator?
Will having it scanned tell me anything?

Check your grounds body, chassis, engine block. All the stock grounds on my truck are wearing out volt gauge jumps around

Bad connection somewhere. Possible bad voltage regulator if the truck is equipped with one. Check the grounds and positive cables first.

Re: Battery light on???
So I checked the POS and Ground, replaced the lugs to the battery, pulled the alt again and had it checked a third time, and it still goes dead after driving it. I am thinking of just installing a new alt and cables, The Battery is new.
anyone got a spare alternator that I can test out?

Check the ground that goes from the battery to the fender... that one gave me problems a few months back.

Re: Battery light on???
I popped a volt reg on the way to the 500 last year in an F150. It blew the radio, race radio(kenwood 100watter), head lights, turn signals, ignition control module, coil, and tail lights and anything else that happened to be on. I dont understand why the fuses didnt pop.
I carry a spare alt in my bronco...im in san dimas. You are free to come toss it in to try.

Check for continuity from the big lug on the alt to the battery positive. The fusible link could be damaged. Also check for +12 with the ignition on to the small plug, as this is the voltage sense line for the regulator.
