Superduty Knuckle on a Dana 50 TTB

Post by Wrightracing.net »

I was wondering if anyone has put a unit bearing knuckle from a F350 to a Dana 50 TTB front axle. I have a 1999 f350 and I like the automatic hub lock, but it still has a manual lock on the hubs.

I have Dana 50 beam ends, but I have not welded them in yet. I was wondering if the Superduty knuckles would bolt up to the Dana 50 beams.

I do want to see if a beam end on the Straight axle could be grafted to the TTB beam.

I was looking for Knuckles for the 95-97 F250 and they are hard to find complete and expensive to buy part by part.

What are your thoughts.

I don't see the advantage. The D50 parts are damn strong and serviceable. As far as I know, unit bearings were designed to be less costly to assemble, not because they're better.

It was just a thought. The ease of service would be nice. I was looking for knuckles for the Dana 50 and there were a lot more newer Superduty knuckles verses the 95-97 F250 knuckles I was looking for.

I have had 37X12.50R16.5LT tires and steel 24 bolt Millitary double beadlock wheels on my 1999 F350 with unit bearings for years and only had one go bad since I got the truck in 2002.
And I have been ruff on the truck with chase duty in Baja and playing in the Dunes at Glamis. So with aluminum wheels on the Bronco with 37in tires should hold up being lighter than the F350.

Just to get it running and in the dirt, I will run a 4.5+ Dana 44 I got from a friend.
