Dana 50 third member in a Dana 44 Housing.

Does anyone know if a F250 Dana 50 Third member will bolt directly into a Dana 44 housing?
I know the axles and U-joints are different, but I plan to put Dana 50 ends on a extended Dana 44 housing.

Another question I am wondering is if a Dana 60 hub will work on a Dana 50 spindle. I found a new 5 on 5.5 Dana 60 hub from Yukon and when I contacted them, they did not know.

I would like to stay 5 on 5.5 up front and rear if possible. The Dana 60 hubs are what I want to use on the rear when I do a full floater 9in.

I also like the idea of running 5 lug slotted mag wheels on the Bronco and convert them to a aluminum beadlock.
I am trying to keep the unsprung weight down as much as possible and still run bigger brakes.

It may be a moot point if 15in wheels will not fit on f250 Dana 50 brakes anyways. I can also get 8 on 6.5 slotted mag wheels in 16.5 and 17. So I may just have to bite to bullet and go 8 lug. Fortunately I already have a set of Centerline dish 16.5x8.5 wheels I can run. I got them as a hand me down from my old friend Ramsey El Wardani.
I also have some Baja 37X12.50R16.5LT tires at the house. I have been running the Baja's on my F350 for year's with steel Humvee 24 bolt double beadlock wheels. They have been great and I would like to run them on the Bronco but on aluminum wheels. The F350 wheels are 8 on 170, so they only fit 98 and newer fords. They were re-centered by Alpha Tread in Yuma for me 8 or 9 years ago. I paid $250 per wheels with run flats and powder coated. Total with 99% tread tires and shipping was $1900 to a freight terminal nearby.

I still find good deals on Baja 16.5 tires for $150 for 90% tread and $300 for new ones both with 2019 or newer date codes.

So I probably answered my own debate.

But what do you think?

Are you running the 1350 - 35 spline outer axle shafts from a Dana 50?

That was one of the things I liked about the Dana 50 stuff, but I did find out that the Dana 44 and Dana 50 have the same inner 30 spline count, so you can run a Dana 50 axle shaft in a Dana 44 third member. I like that because I can use my 44 with the 3 bolt bearing retainer from a 82 Dana 44. No dumb spring modification.

Mine is 30 spline and uses the bolt in stub shaft aswell.

Pretty sure the 44s. What size u joint is in the 44? 1310?

I think the 1310, but not sure. I do know the Dana 50 runs 1350 and the outer spline counts are 35. So I will probably go with the bigger axles and I like the idea of bigger F250 brakes without having to do custom high dollar one's and replacement parts are easy and cheap to find. The drawback is converting to 8 lug. But not a big issue for me at this point.

I almost picked up a set of Hutchinson aluminum double beadlock Rock Monster wheels 17x8.5 with 5 lug for $250 per wheel, but after we agreed on a price for used and scratched rock rash wheels. He backed out and wanted $500 per wheel when he was getting a quote on shipping. I can get single new beadlock aluminum wheels for what he wants now. So if he changes his mind back, I hope it's before I pull the trigger on the 8 lug conversion. Image

I'll ask when I pick it up from the diff shop. New arb, master install kit and axel u joints getting installed. I should have it back next week sometime.

Cool, I have a ARR for my Dana 44 and I will put it in when I re-gear from 410 to 513. I also want to change the pinion yoke to 1350.

I did just see a guy put a 1480 u-joint Dana 60 outer stub axle in a Dana 50 beam. There was a little clearanceing in the beam end, but I thought it was interesting and the Dana 50 chromoly axles are harder to find for the Dana 50.
