Engine cutting out, quits
I have a 92 Bronco with a 5.8/auto. It has 267K on it, and ran well until recently. It just starting quitting , sometimes at idle, sometimes while driving. It will start right away, or sometimes takes a few minutes, when started it runs fine again. I need to take it somewhere that can read any codes (no CEL is on), but I am curious if anyone here has had a similar problem?

check/change the air filter then the fuel filter.

Filters good, fuel good, spark good (when running). Maybe the distributor?

my 88 had some of your symptoms too, i dont know what it was,but i started tapping relays, moving wiring around in the engine compartment, and swore alot....i mean alot! and it seriuosly has not done it since.
you probably have some connections that are loose some where.....

Another possibility is the inertia switch, usually mounted on the kick panel or inside firewall, passenger side. This is supposed to trip and shut off the fuel pump if you're in a serious crash, a useful safety item! Had the same problems and think it may have been this switch. There was no way to open mine up, but took it off and banged it around a bunch to knock the stuff off the contacts, it has run fine since.

You may have a vacuum leak
Re: Engine cutting out, quits
I was having the same problem with my 86 ho motor after the swap. Check the idle air controller. Take it off spray it with carb cleaner and also connect to alligator clips to the ends (where the plug goes in) and connect it to a battery. It should open and shut when you cnnect it. If that does not help check the wires going into your map sensor, if they are loose the bronco will shut off under load. There are other things to try as well but start there first.

Okay, I have code 33, and 512. I recently relocated the battery to the back of the truck, that is when this trouble started. Could a bad ground be causing it too occasionally stall? It sometimes starts right up, it once took over 5 minutes to restart.

Yes definitely could be a ground problem. I know a couple of bronco examples that this happened to after they did some front end work. Make sure you have all major components tied together with a good ground strap and dont take it for granted that everything should be bolted together and have a ground path. Engine to frame , frame to body, battery to engine. engine to body. Hopefully it is that simple.

Re: Engine cutting out, quits
It looks like I missed grounding something when I relocated the battery. Next to the stock battery position is a ground on the inner fender. The wires run into the cab, where I assume they ground much of the electronics. I ran a ground wire from the inner fender to the frame, and not only does it appear the problem is fixed, but the truck seems to run better and the stereo is louder and better sounding! With all the various ground straps already on the Bronco, I'm surprised how the absence of one can make such a difference.
