Bringing up an old thread....
78 c-6, what kind of ATF to use? Type F or Mercon?
I want to use Mobile 1 full synthetic, any problems with this combination for race application?
Thanks

Re: Start Your Go-Fast Build-Rear Suspension
Nice build. How long is your driveshaft gonna be? It doesn't look like it slips at all from full compression to full droop from looking at the pics.

Re: Trussing a 9"
I have never found a top truss for the 9" and I looked all over. We just took a 2" x 1/8" or 3/16th inch flat stock and formed the top part of the top truss and then filled in the sides with individual cut/templated pieces. It was pretty easy and only took about an hour to get it all to fit well eno...

Re: E4OD Trans Filtering and Cooling Options
What brand would you recommend of ATF and is Mercon the same as Mercon V. I've gotta put new stuff in my C6.
Thanks

Re: Built rear ends: Currie, Camburg, Dirt Tech, Schreiner, etc.
I have a schriener 3rd member with detroit and 4.88. Priced right and good guys to work with, no problems with it thus far. Sounds like you just need a stock bronco housing with a new center section and a disc brake conversion. Right width, they come with 31 spline axles and you could get the disc b...

I checked on Summit's web site and it doesn't look like it, just c-4 c-6 and AOD

Re: Shift Improver kits
Ya, i'd like to hear any options for the c-6 as well if anyone has done it. I've gotta replace the gasket and maybe a new pan, if its that easy of an install I'd like to do it while i'm down there.

Re: Suspension setup questions
I would run the bypass' with the leaf springs and that should be able to control most of the bucking with some tuning. A smooth body resi would probably also do wonders up front with the proper valving (of course a bypass would also be the best bet). But the shocks won't overcome poor spring rates t...

Re: Ball joints
A little off topic. I'm rebuilding a bare D44 straight axle. How hard is it to press in the ball joints? I hear its a pain in the butt. All i need is a ball joint press right?

Re: Arc length / Geometry, Anyone smart?
Yes, i need a longer limit strap at A so that the coilover (B) will have more droop.

Arc length / Geometry, Anyone smart?
I've got all the #'s to solve this suspension geometry problem but don't have the brains to do it anymore. I'm looking for the length of B to B. I think angle Q is approx 11 degrees (but really not sure how i got that answer :D ). I've been plugging away at this for hours now and keep getting differ...

Re: axle wrap
This may be the wrong place to ask this question but.....If you have a two link setup, then as the axle drops and the two link swings in its natural ark , wouldn't this want to make the axle pull forward as it droops? If that is the natural tendency of a leaf pack to begin with as the axle droops it...

Re: Fire extinguisher mounts
Thanks guys. Ya i've seen the poly performance one and thats kinda what led me to ask. I can't see spending $65 on one of these let alone 85 or 90 on some of the others i've seen.
That WIY kit looks like it might be the one and the price is right also.
Thanks

Fire extinguisher mounts
Hey guys, not really a tech question but i've been looking all over the internet for a cheap quick release fire extinguisher mount to go on the roll cage and can't find any. What are you guys using. I'd like to keep it under $50.
thanks
scott
