Re: TRC's 79' build
You do realize you can re-arch what you have with a 12# sledge and a big piece of channel. Just eat your Wheaties first and wear some ear plugs.

Re: MOSS BROTHERS 79 BRONCO CLASS 3 RACER
I measure 7 to 8" to the bump stop (frame!). It is strapped at considerably less than 14" but I am using 14" shocks. Any more down travel than we are using is more than the u-joints can handle and it really starts tearing up track bars and mounts.

Re: Safety wire on Gears?
We had them back off one year at the Baja 500, and have wired them ever since. I think we got the drilled bolts from ARP through Summit. They should have never backed off if they had been installed correctly, but this way it reminds the installer to be sure they are torqued before he wires them.

Re: Looking for your suggestions as I build a no budget racer
If you're running the VORRA short course stuff, 33's will be fine. After your safety equipment, invest in good shocks. Far and away they will make the most difference. Switch to 2.5" rear springs, a lot more bendy than the stockers. Might know where you can score some good used ones.

Re: Emergency Medical Response Training
I am interested in attending. Along the same lines, SCORE is putting on a free racing safety program. Not sure if the link below will work, but it has been floating around on FB and you can find it under Roger Norman's timeline. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10209758283814926&set=a.1992869...

Re: Emergency Medical Response Training
As Philo said, in the past they have done it at races. I had the same urge some years ago to seek out some training and at that time these guys were offering courses at selected races: Jared Tetzlaff President www.fast-aid.org As Bondobob offered, persons qualified for training are out there. The re...

You did not mention if a compression test had had been done. Do that if it hasn't been done yet. An occasional misfire will sometimes occur as a valve is just starting to leak.
Re: Jack
A Hi Lift is all we carry on the race truck, although there have been times a floor jack or even a bottle jack would have been handy. They can certainly be dangerous and you need to know when to recognize when you are reaching their limitations. Ken and I grew up using them daily strictly for jackin...

Re: Nothing special class3 pics
Haha, I have been using a heat shrink printer for work for about 15 years! The one I have is now obsolete and I bought up all the tubing stock I could find, which is probably useless because I probably can't get the ink ribbons anymore. This Dymo system is about 10% of the price I paid back then. I ...

Re: Ford 9 Inch Help
Unless the right length stock axles fall out of the sky for you, spend the $$$ and get some aftermarket axles. I believe that Currie said they had a lifetime warranty on their 31 spline axles when I bought some years ago. At that time it was only something like $300 for the pair. I don't have enough...

I was once more part of the Autofab team and we ended up second in class. The Palapa Boy team got the well deserved first place trophy. As mentioned above there were issues with the oil pan that we believe was contacting the cross member. We used 4 gallons of oil to get to Bay of LA on the first day...

The seals come in a kit that includes the needle bearing in the spindle. You need one kit for each side. Can anyone tell me if the carrier/axles are the same between Jeep D35 and TTB D35. Basically can I run a locker pulled from a Jeep in the TTB 3rd member? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Summit lists this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pwt-92-0435-2725/overview/ as being common between the Jee...

That might not be a large enough steering cooler. We finally had to go with a medium sized trans cooler.

Somehow getting full voltage to the field? Put a volt meter on that and see what you get. That would be the F terminal in your drawing. Should drop down to way less than 12 volts when the output is 13 or 14 volts. Is that reference voltage connection in place as shown, terminal 3? Have you also trie...

Along with the info above, the best thing you can do is set the thing up in your daily driver and play with it every day for a couple weeks. Nothing tougher than heading out to somewhere new AND trying to figure out your navigation system at the same time! It is pretty amazing how different the Lowr...
