Re: Front Locker/ limited slip options

Here's another idea...Several years ago I was talking to Dave Ashley about the Rough Rider Bronco (it was for sale at the time). He said that they ran a viscous coupling in the front drive shaft that only sent 60% of the power to the front wheels. He said they did this to make the front diff and axl...

Re: Camburg coil buckets and spring arch

Hey. Before you drop the bucks for the C&T beams, grind on a set of lower spring mounts to be sure I'm right.

Re: Camburg coil buckets and spring arch

You have a lot of things working against you with those coil buckets, it's doubtful that you will solve your problem short of C&T beams or beveling your lower spring mounts (thinner on wheel side thicker on frame side). If you look at the application that Camburg made the coil towers for, it was a 5...

How big is too big?

I have recently put some 37" tires on an old 82 chevy 1ton SRW 4x4 truck I use aroung the farm (see "Rotten Tires" thread in Whatever). With no other changes, this truck rides dramatically better than ever. This is not a "go fast" truck, but these larger tires make it ride so that it can go much fas...

Re: Rotten Tires

I know I read a post somewhere discussing tire sizes and several people said they thought 37's were too big for a Bronco. I understand that bigger tires can bereak things, and I've never had tires bigger than 33. Thes tires make this old truck ride so much better, why wouldn't they do the same on a ...

Re: APEMFB needs your help! Please read.

Jihad has started! A 1993 Bronco was found in front of the owners house. The only clue to who was responsible was a brick sitting ontop of the crushed Bronco.

Re: Rotten Tires

In the case of airing down the tires, Trailworthy has PVC inserts that sandwich the bead between the rim and the insert, basically serving as an internal beadlock.

Rotten Tires

I was having some quality time with my son a while back...we were underneath my feed truck ('83 GM 3500 SRW 4x4),and I was teaching him how to change oil. I noticed that one of my tires which had well over 50% of tread left was about to split the sidewall out. I examined the others closely, and they...

Re: DIY Cut & Turned Beams

Nick is right. I have built one set of C&T beams and radius arms. I was advised to just buy them, but wanted to try it for myself. Unless you are prepared to assemble, cycle, disassemble, and repete several times the complete front end, I advise just buying them. Your time is worth something. I'll b...

Re: ok you mechanical masters.......

I agree with Polarcub. I think you have an EGR or PCP valve problem, not a fuel problem. Possibly even an intake manifold leak. That computer will make your truck act like you have a fuel problem when one of these problem above exist. Let us know what it was.

Re: C-notching the Rear & Spring Under for lower ride height?

For what it's worth Geoff at Giant gets 18" of travel with about 1/4 plunge with his 64" kit on a Bronco. Leaf springs can be very capable if done right. The same goes for a link setup, if the geometry and spring rates are bad almost any leaf setup can easily out perform it. I spoke with Goeff abou...
