Re: TRC's 79' build

I haven't seen any other 78/79 with the rear Autofab quarters online, unless I missed it, which is very possible. Couldnt help myself from slapping them on temporarily today to see how they look. I'm really happy with it. Should look good sitting 2-3" lower on 40's http://www.supermotors.net/getfile...

Re: TRC's 79' build

hahaha Thanks! Well after 2 years i'm finally back home! It felt like Christmas came early this year coming home to a shop full of boxes... the Bronco was looking pretty rough, after sitting 2 years in the PNW. I took a pressure washer to it and knocked the moss off. http://www.supermotors.net/getfi...

Re: TRC's 79' build

I can't say i'm a huge fan of the 5" bulge, but they would most definitely keep the tires inside the fenders. I'm really not overly concerned with keeping them tucked in the fenders though, a little tire sticking out helps keep my foolsize body straight on trails out here. I think with the right off...

Re: 79 Bronco

Looks clean! Any idea on what tire/wheel combo you want to go with?

Re: TRC's 79' build

Well I have a little update... its hard to make much progress (besides spending money) living in Japan. The Bronco's been long overdue for a set of new shoes, so I bucked up and ordered a set of 40x13.5x17 Goodyear MTR kevlars and 17x8.5 Walker Evans beadlocks. I went with 4.5" backspacing hoping I ...

Re: TRC's 79' build

You may want to look into a Fast EFI system instead of a carb. It works really well. Getting carbs to work well in the rough is difficult to say the least... even with a sucker pump. I have heard good things about the Fast EFI systems, for now will probably stick with the cheaper Carb setup to get ...

TRC's 79' build

Hello all! Although my rig isn't an all-out go fast style build, it will see some air and quite a bit of time in the sand. My goal is a good all around KOH style Bronco, something I can bash on in the dunes then hit some trails on the way home. I'm on a somewhat limited budget (Uncle Sam doesn't giv...

Re: New guy from FSB

Yikes, My dad and I would love to make a trip down to Pismo with you guys! It may be just his Bronco there depending on where I get stationed etc, but regardless it would be a fun trip. He was considering selling his actually  However, on the last trip out I think I talked him into keeping it...

Re: New guy from FSB

Yeah I agree the Unit Bearing setup isnt ideal, but they (unit bearings) have been steadily coming down in price over the years and I would expect them to continue doing so with the rising popularity and use of the Superduty axles. I was planning on running a 78/79 D60, but I found such a good deal ...

Re: New guy from FSB

The axles are actually from a 2002 F350, so D60 front Sterling 10.5 rear. Which presents a bit of an issue when you go to do a RA conversion, I ended up cutting just under 3" out of the center section on the drivers side to clear the RA mounts. But they are MUCH cheaper then 78/79 D60's, and the Ste...

Re: New guy from FSB

I was thinking about throwing a good set of resi shocks in the front, but the coilovers would allow more room/options for air bumpstops and much easier to tune in and set the ride height. But, that all comes with a hefty price-tag in comparison to a set of nice shocks. As for the single shear shock ...

Re: New guy from FSB

Thanks for the compliments guys! The landing was very smooth, although it could use better shocks. I'm contemplating ditching the coils in the front and going to coilovers front/rear when I do the 4-link, but thats down the road a ways. It looks like I may have changed my dads direction for his Bron...

New guy from FSB

Hey there, I'm Tanner. I just got my 79 Bronco done(ish) a couple weeks ago, I bought it when I was 17 and wheeled it for awhile, then when I turned 18 I did a 1-ton axle swap with Cage/Bloody Knuckle Garage suspension, sky flip kit etc. I'm not building it to be a strictly a "Go-Fast" Bronco, but m...
